Check the control change screen. I think the default is the centre button on a controller that is not "start/+". So - on Switch controller, select on other controllers, I think.

I don't know about Switch, but for everything else it's whatever your equivalent to "select" is.

It's select (-). Now I'm wondering why the game never mentioned it on the level where I could first use partners. It told me how to direct them, and that was it. Maybe it will on the next level, though, or something...

I don't remember seeing it on mine... I remember looking for it, too, since that's how I play many Warriors games... It's possible I missed it, though... it did tell me to use d-pad up to control them, though...

One of the songs in DW3 is literally called "Brast from the East" lol

For the longest time, I thought "Brast" was an onamonapia for something related to an orchestra because of that song. BECAUSE THERE'S NO WAY THEIR ENGRISH IS THAT BAD, RIGHT?!

I like the punchy girl. I figured that when Inolayed the game, Id use the hot guys and ninja girls. And the punchy none definitely fits ninja girl. Oh. And Oichi. But thats because I think she was the one who, in one game, used a cup-and-ball toy as a weapon And at that point, she became my favorite warriors character I also like the bow girl more than I thought I would

The blacksmith takes a while to build up. There are gold weapons, but the ideal weapon you want is an empty 8-slot silver weapon. Those can drop, but you also get one automatically anytime you S-rank a weapon category with a character. It can be done for as many weapon types as you want for a single character. The actual weapon type you get is random, but that's a moot point given the crafting mechanic.

Also, if you're still focusing on Ieyasu, the dual-sword and naginata wielders are pretty low damage naturally. They can be deadly with the right builds, obviously, but their attack power is naturally low.

They're light, fast-attacking weapons.

Of course they aren't going to hit like a great sword. Their DPS is still really good and arguably better than quite a few of the weapons when properly built.

Even when they're not built, they're not bad weapons. They're just on the weaker side, damage-wise.

How is Hideyoshi in SW5?

He and Nene (why'd they cut her?!!) were always my favorites. And I liked the 3-section staff. Did wish he had more attack power and not a Normal string, though.

He's fun as hell to use. His damage is lower than the twin-swords, but he's very viable. Just gotta build him for the air.

His jump charge is a fantastic combo ender too.

I won't say he uses the naginata the same as the staff, but it's similar in that it's a fast and acrobatic(moreso) moveset.

you actually don't get to play as him very often, it seems. at least not where i am, which is the end of chapter 3?

but when i do, i don't ever have an issue killing things with him. he's actually one of my stronger characters just in terms of sheer dps.

other than that, i've been focusing on the obvious characters, oda and mitsuhide. of those two, mitsuhide is by far my favorite. recently i've been taking mitsuki for a few runs. i like her but she seems kinda...blunt. like her attacks just feel incredibly off putting to me

i don't like any of the spear users. any of them, all spear types. don't like them. they feel too slow, and their attacks are meant for crowd control, but they suck at that, too. i don't know.

the ninjas or whatever, don't like hanzo. i kind of like the other dude.

the gun weapon suck in this game. they're awful. none of those characters are good.

i haven't tried a hammer yet.

Mitsuki is awkward to use at first and that seems to be a general consensus amongst most players.

The cannon is a fantastic moveset with excellent crowd control and pretty good damage. Just don't stick to the mode from his C4 for too long. That said, I'm familiar with Matsunaga and Magoichi's usage. I've played Nakamura maybe once or twice, so I can't quite vouch for him.

The regular spear feels like a weak moveset in general outside of Toshiimitsu's unique charge attacks. Katsuie also has a unique charge on the horse that's a pretty solid, but inefficient.

The hammer's an okay weapon. It's got some fun animations, but it's damage isn't quite as high as you'd think it is and as quite a bit of startup on a lot of it's attacks.

How's Honda in this game?

The Great Spear in general is an incredible moveset with a crapton of range and a metric shit ton of damage.

That said, Honda is probably my least favorite user of the weapon. His second unique attack is really cool, but I don't find him quite as effective as Shingen and especially Toshiie.

Toshiie has the worst special attack(although it is cool looking), but his C6 unique attack absolutely shreds anything in his general vicinity.

All of the GS users get a kickass horse charge attack too.

Im not a fan of horse fighting currently. Even fo Hyrule Warriors, I was a fan of Eponas attacks. Though, I got good at it. I feel like Im not doing enough when riding a horse in this game

Horse fighting has always sucked in musou games. Horses are for getting around.
Only exception was Gracia in SW2. Her horse move set was so damn overpowered (and her normal string on foot really bad). She just spams shooting fireballs from the saddle, lol

The horse attacks vary a lot between weapon types. The game generally isn't built around mounted combat though.

I may be wrong, but I believe I read that coop is only available for stages you've already beaten in Musou mode. As in, you can't go through the story together with someone. I may be wrong though.

Well, WO changes things and probably messed up her move set (don't think I played her in WO). In SW2, the point was that her normal attacks sucked, but she could charge musou by hitting enemies w/ her weak but AoE C1 attack. And both of her special attacks were very powerful spells that were different depending on which version you used (1, 2, or 3 button presses in conjunction w/ the special stance).
so she was literally a mage. Her specials were INCREDIBLE, to the point that I almost never used her actual musou attack (her spells consumed musou, though less than a musou attack), but her physical attacks were crap.
I actually really liked her in SW2, just b/c her design meant she played differently than anyone else. I loved how SW2 XL introduced powerful specials that consume musou (Motochika had it, too), shame they moved away from that in the newer SW games.
But yeah, WO games have character switching and lose the specials from SW, so I'm sure it messed up her whole move set / design badly.

you can. its just that the stages where you cant pick a partner arent co-opable is musou mode

the guy that made it says her horse attacks and spells are overrated, though. Maybe on the hardest difficulty, but I used them just fine on Normal/Hard...

Her magic attacks are very overrated, as are her horse attacks. It will take 2 of her level 3 S/X specials to kill a generic when lined up properly. It is a very unsafe move though. Her level 1 T/Y special heals and level 2 creates a barrier. The barrier can only take a certain amount of damage though. This means that in expert mode she can take exactly 1 attack before it bursts, stunning her and leaving her open to a whole lot more damage. Be careful with it.
Her musou charging C1 and auto-refill skill support her long musou bar.

In any case, yeah. Tons of ways to keep her musou filling up and tons of ways to spend it for AoE magic. She's just a straight up squishy mage and it's glorious. Nobody else in the game plays like her. If you try to just use normal and charged combo strings to fight w/ her, you're doing it wrong and are going to have a bad time.
