I guess that's their best moneymaker.

Quite a few FGC players despise Strive.

It's an interesting dynamic because it's simple enough to appeal to more casual players, and that popularity pulls in the pros who play more popular games, but a lot of people in the middle of those groups really hate the game. I'm curious about if it's going to have any longevity just based on that.

It's strange because I see a lot of people saying the revamped RC mechanic is interesting and the netcode makes it easier to stick with the game, but others saying that the game is too slow and limiting compared to previous GGs.

I don't think what they've done is necessarily all that bad (though it's still bad), but a major factor is that they replaced major parts of the core of the series. The speed, mobility, flash-born-of-substance, and metal aesthetic are all gutted.

I took a look at the previous games and there's so much freedom since you can go punch into kick into slash etc.

While opening gatling stuff only has a few useful combos into launch/safety, there's an organic depth that results from the varied results you can get depending on the timing, angle, and range of when you hit a character and what you gatling into.

It's a great feeling when you can just intuit how to follow a clean hit in rare circumstances with an optimal combo for damage or spacing.
