Or are we part of a multiverse?
andhiw do you rationalize an endless universe in your head? Can we keep going endlessly in one direction or does it eventually loop around to the beginning?

There's only one electron. Richard Feynman figured that out in the 1940s.

At this point in time it is impossible for humans to confirm the existence or non existence of a multiverse. I'd like to think it is real, but we may not find out in our lifetime. Alien contact will probably happen first before we discover the multiverse. Maybe the aliens will tell us about if there is a multiverse

We're still not really sure the universe is real.

I don't believe there's more than one universe, but I don't think its impossible.

As for the idea of an endless universe, I'd guess it stretches out forever, and doesn't loop.

It actually doesn't necessarily mean that. But trying to explain how or why is a bit beyond my abilities.

It is physically impossible to reach the edge of our observable universe as we currently understand it. Because the universe is expanding, the edge of what we can observe is actually traveling away from us faster than light (and will eventually disappear from our perspective). Not because it is moving faster than light, but because new space is being "created" in between us. And the total amount of new space being created between us and the "edge" in a given length of time is greater than the distance light can travel in that same amount of time.

Yeah the only reason we don't all fly away from eachother is because of gravity and other attractive forces. But on larger scales gravity loses out to expansion, so galaxies that started off too far away just float even farther away.

In the distant future one won't even be able to see other galaxies from their galaxy. It'll look like they're alone in the universe. And the universe will look like it always existed as a featureless void (radiation and light that existed as evidence of the Big Bang and other galaxies will have faded).

So, from my understanding, that's not exactly what is meant by the expansion of the universe. It's not that some boundary is expanding outwards, just that the space between everything in the universe is increasing

Think of a grid of equally spaced lines that goes on infinitely, and over time those lines all get further apart from each other. It's kind of like that

In order for anything to exist anywhere it has to exist everywhere which logically leads us to conclude multiverses exist.

That's too small of a scale, gravity is the dominant force in that case. Objects within our galaxy aren't even necessarily moving away from each other due to gravity. I think clusters of galaxies are about the scale that you notice universal expansion

The expansion of the universe is thought to be driven by dark energy, which loses the tug of war with gravity at the local level.

Gravity is still strong on the level of planets and stars. It's so strong that our galaxy and nearby galaxies are getting closer, and in the far future they'll merge to form one supergalaxy. But beyond that range (called our "local group") the distance between us and everything else is expanding faster than light.

There's no empirical evidence for a multiverse, as far as I know. Some math points to it being a possibility but it's scientific philosophy, not science.

Well I would assume you probably mean one of two things. The existence of alternate timelines or completely separate planes of existence.

As for alternate timelines, theoretically the universe is infinite. And theoretically if it is infinite than every conceivable reality has occurred or even is occurring at this moment. As hard as it is to wrap my head around the massiveness of that I can't exacly say it makes no sense and can't be true. So sure, maybe.

As for completly different planes of existence, probably not. Not saying it's impossible but there's no observable reason to think it is or sound theoretical logic behind it other than that anything is possible.
