I don't really think about it, but my favorite depiction of the afterlife was in What Dreams May Come (with the exception of the fates of people who killed themselves).

if there was something after death, I'd be cool with it being like that, if not better, of course.

It's over. You stop perceiving anything. Eternal rest, but you can't feel the rest or recognize it's happening. See: before you were born.

I think it spreads so thin that it essentially becomes part of the ether that makes up the universe itself. Ultimate equal distribution. There would not be any consciousness in this though.

The stars, the darkness, the molecules of matter and anti-matter. From a scientific standpoint all life is born of stardust anyway.

Nobody has pure answers of truth so it's fun to speculate.

See, its really important to weigh all the facts before jumping to conclusions. You know what you know and you dont know what you dont know and thats that. Theres really no reason to be passive aggressive about it. We cant learn nothing if we never open up the book in the first place. You know?

If by spirit you mean your consciousness, which is a product of electrical signals in your brain, then they stop (or cease to exist, if you want to put it that way).

After death your brain synapses stop. When synapses stop you cease to exist leaving only your lifeless body behind.

There is no spirit.

The spirit is an abstract concept and doesn't actually exist. Once the brain shuts off it's "gone".

To be more specific, your body would no longer be physically able to produce and sustain the chain of electric signals that maintain your consciousness. So it simply reverberates back to where it originated at the quantum or antimaterial or metaphysical level.

Think of it like plugging your phone into a cord in the wall. The battery it uses runs for a limited amount of time. When that time runs up, it needs to be plugged back in. However, the phone is just a hardware shell or vessel that holds the software and electromagnetic data, the electricity itself, which would be your consciousness at the metaphysical or quantum level. Thus, the phone data cannot do anything without that physical phone medium, and our bodies cannot do anything without a consciousness to pilot it.

Obviously biochemistry will differ from organic and inorganic objects, but that's the core fundamental concept. Thoughts are the only thing in the universe capable of traveling instantly at the quantum level and hold absolutely zero mass. Even light doesn't travel that fast, and light photons actually have mass. That's also why things like the UFO phenomenon, remote viewing, out-of-body-experiences and such all share similar ideas and concepts.

Maybe its complicated.

1.) It ceases to exist, then goes goes heaven or hell & is reincarnated.

2.) or ~ it goes to heaven or hell, and then is reincarnated and ceases to exist.

3.) Or! ~ it is reincarnated and then ceases to exist and either goes to heaven or hell.
