Current Events > Should i collect base set pokemon cards or alpha set mtg cards?

I have very little knowledge of mtg but i already started collecting alpha set cards. They are relatively inexpensive(at least the ones i buy which are the commons). I just do not know if very many folks are gonna be interested in these in the future? I have like no clue what cards exist for the alpha set and there are also like 300 cards. So there is a lot.

Pokemon on the other hand i grew up with. I know the first 100 or so pokemon rather well. If i collected these i would have a better idea of what i had. The only problem is right now these cards are kind of expensive, but i suppose i could start collecting the not so valuable ones as they probably only cost a few dollars i imagine.

I feel like with magic it could be a good investment to continue collecting since it was the first tcg but pokemon on the other hand is easily much bigger than mtg so it is more collectable imo.

Id like to get your opinions on this. Should i invest in pokemon or should i keep investing in mtg alpha?
