I graduate after I finish my last course on Aug 13 and I just got offered $37/hr (kind of weird it isn't salary, but not a big deal). I'm not sure if that is enough to live on though.

I know someone on a discord server that lived in his car for some time after his brother kicked him out of the house (he was living with his brother at the time). He'd park his car in some forest for the night, took showers at a gym in the morning, and just bought cheap food at the groceries. Had a couple of phone banks that he'd charge at some public place I don't think he ever said where maybe a starbucks lol. He did this while working at Walmart. This was in one of the northern towns in California not too far from Oregon.

Maybe a viable tactic if you don't make a lot of money

No it really doesn't. Unless you're living way beyond your means 37 an hour is far more than just liveable.

Lolno

Like maybe it is if you think people in large cities doing a 5 or 6 hour commute or having 7 roommates is reasonable. Or it is if you don't want any Starbucks, fast food, big box stores, or literally any large retail or service chain anywhere near big cities.

Yeah too many people live beyond their means. So many things we act like we gotta have but really dont. It was a shitty lifestyle but I knew a guy who supportrd himself and 3 other adults off like 10 dollars a hour. Had no phone no internet no cable/satellite anything like that though.

Its worse these days with all these things entertainment wise that are monthly subs and for some reason people act like their isnt cheaper options for phones. My phone was 50 bucks and my monthly plan is like 36 dollars.

Kills me when overtime becomes big at my job and all of a sudden co workers got a brand new dodge charger or something. Like what ya gonna do if the overtime drys up?

I just went through that today, it was hard to feel like I might get turned down but held firm.

I have a good stable position and was referred by an old buddy/coworker to a new job in a new industrynearly a complete change in career and turned down their first offer. Was nervous as hell even though I have a comfy job I didnt need to leave (but Im lower tenured them less motivated employees so still get the worse shifts and flexibility), but it paid off as they came back with my asking.

Its weird cuz I went into the application not being too serious. Was just checking it out, knowing Im a great employee its hard to leave that (top performer at my current position but under appreciated and its done little for me bonus-wise or schedule). Then I got through the interviewing and realized I could be putting myself in a position to make $20-30k/yr more and got pretty nervous to possibly turn it down. I almost caved when they asked if their base they offer would cause me to decline the position entirely.

It really is ridiculous. I bought a 2005 sunfire for 500 bucks back in like 2011 and I still drive it. It had under 60 thousand kilometers and came with two brand new sets of tires on rims.

The year after I got it I started working out of town making really really good money and working huge hours and everyone was like dude get a new car... long story short that job lasted 8 months before the idiot owner fucked everything up and everyone was left hanging.

Now it's 10 years later and I still drive the same car and besides brakes, tires and routine maintenance it hasn't cost me a cent.

I'd rather have a comfort zone than spend shit all the time and if I'd bought a new truck or some shit when I had that job 80% of what I made woulda been gone on the truck and I never coulda afforded braces and jaw surgery when I ended up needing them so my teeth would be fucked by now and id be broker than I am and have a truck thars worth essentially nothing relatively speaking.

Yeah people pester me to sale or trade in my truck all the time. For one it was my late grandfathers truck. It will become a heap of rust in the front yard before I get rid of It. Secondly I like not having to make car payments

Had a stepgrandad I never understood any time he came close to paying off a vehichle hed trade it in for a new one

Pretty good wage for someone who cant do basic math. :-)

Let me help. $37 an hour means you can afford $1,500 rent, $100 for your cell phone, $300 for your utilities, $450 for car payment and insurance, $350 for food, $250 for gas, $100 for gamepass, gold and PSN. $50 for Hulu and Netflix and even more. Its just addition and really, really easy to figure out. You could afford a petand porn without adds. You can afford your favorite food brands. You can afford a monthly clothing allowance with that money. I would hold out for something better.
