Had 470 people pass through. I couldn't even get like 5 at a time on Twitch.

Anyone having streaming success on platforms want to offer some tips?

=O I feel famous for having someone mention me in a topic like this!
I have three big bits of advice I think help me a lot.

The first is to try and understand who your audience is and why they're watching you. Generally I think there are two reasons people will watch your stream:

1. For the content
2. For the creator

At first a new viewer will come in interested by the game that you're streaming. If you're pro at a shooter or moba or playing something fun to watch like Getting Over It or it's a brand new game that just dropped, then they're there for the content.

As you build a community you'll have regulars that will watch you play anything because they're there for you, the creator. One of the few streamers I watch is Small Ant because he's fun to watch so I'll watch him play anything.

As a new streamer you're always going to be in the first category. I have almost 650 followers and I'm barely getting 15ish who are in the second category and will be there for every stream no matter what. Personally I recommend you try and find a niche and do that 90% of the time and break off from that slowly. This way you will reach new viewers and not alienate your current viewers for very long during that 10% of the time.

The second bit of advice is really more of a personality thing, and it's all about being talkative and friendly. I'm sure there are some who can get away without this, but personally I try to be exited whenever I recognize a new face in chat.

I've been streaming for almost 11 months now and these are the lessons I feel I've learned.

My standard opening is "hello (new person) do you play this game? If so, what do you play it on?"
That will give them a way to get into chat despite whatever chatting is currently going on in chat and will make them happy to see you noticed them. Alternatively sometimes I'll comment on their username if it's interesting, like I personally love animal fun facts so if someone's username has an animal in it I'll ask if they want a fun fact about that animal.

Third and finally: be consistent!
If you can, set up a schedule and keep to it! Always start at the same time every day you stream and try not to skip days without letting your regulars know ahead of time. Once you have a regular you'll generally become a part of their routine and you don't want to break that routine as that will have them look for something/one to fill that void.
