  • Let's say that we know for 100% sure that it's the God/YHWH/Jehova/Allah/etc. as depicted in the Abrahamic faiths. In any case, God's killer believed Him to be a tyrant that needed to be eradicated.
  • Let's say that the act is done in such a way that the world was able to witness it happening, and at the moment of God's demise, every human is hit with an unsettling, eerie feeling as if some core part of their being had been lost forever.
  • Finally, God's killer obviously had the supernatural abilities to do so, but after God's demise, they no longer have access to those powers, so they are now just an ordinary human.
With this in mind, do you think this person would have some type of criminal charges filed against them for committing Deicide? Do you think they should be brought to justice for doing so?

why should a god need legal protection?

From a legal point of view: Murder is specifically defined as the act of killing another human. Because God is not a human (nor an animal, so animal cruelty laws don't cover it either), there is no crime to charge the person with.

Now from a moral point of view, it's a bit trickier... but if we take the Bible as an accurate depiction of God's past acts and of his general attitude, as well as looking at the state of the world in the context of that there's a deity out there who could fix it but just sits back and watches presumably for his own amusement, then I'd have to say it looks at the very least like one of those cases where the right thing to do is to pretend you saw nothing (while nominally "discouraging" it).

On further thought, it also quickly comes to mind that some cultist (or former-cultist, now?) is likely going to be out for revenge, so legal charges may not even end up becoming relevant.

They are still going to 100% get murdered by a mob of people. But they won't get in legal trouble.

Indicted on what charge specifically? Keep in mind that in the US, it's unconstitutional to charge someone for a criminal action when it wasn't a crime when it was committed.

If we could ever manage to "kill" the Abrahamic God, there'd be no universe left (let alone any humans) as God maintains all of existence as its Creator. Every atom, every fundamental unit of matter will immediately release all energy contained all at once like it was struck by antimatter.

Did they kill God in Heaven? Heaven isn't owned by anyone, so I guess it's considered international waters. Did they travel there in some kind of vessel? Where is that vessel registered? They'd fall under that jurisdiction. If they killed God in some country, that country's laws probably apply to them. And some for countries like Korea their home country's law always applies to its citizens even if they aren't in there.

This especially matters because the definition of murder isn't exactly the same everywhere. US law seems to define murder as killing a human, but UK common law seems to have settled on murdering a person. I'm betting the crown could make a reasonable argument that God was a person, if not a human.

Beyond that, Parliamentary supremacy probably allows them to retroactively make that true and charge the person. Or simply make a law saying it's illegal to be that specific person, punishable by death. Even the US might be able to get enough support across party lines to amend the constitution to do something similar, simply to punish the person who killed God while ignoring any other right that person has.

Would this hypothetical Judge, having such divine jurisdiction, then become the next God?

In some places deicide might be a crime, but I dont think this would fall under any earthly jurisdiction. If there are other heavenly entities, then theyd have the right to hold the trial. Assuming killing or attempting to kill god was illegal there.
