This was I think my 10th time golfing since I picked it back up 2 years ago if I counted correctly. I've hit 5 pars before this but I live in bogey / double bogey + territory.

Short par 3, sitting about 210 yards. I take my 2 hybrid, rolls about 1' away from the hole but end up about 20' from the hole.

This green is crowned a bit but basically flat. I recently got a new putter (well new to me), Odyssey 2 ball putter. I line up my shot, hit what felt way to hard but it loses a lot of speed up the incline, keeps slowing down, within a foot of the hole doesn't look like it will make it but keeps rolling until its on the lip, time stands still for half a second, and it drops it.

I kept my cool of course, I only pretended my putter was a horse and only did 1 lap around the green, while telling the other guys they could suck my dick if they want to get some of my DNA in hopes of being as good as me.

Any of you golf?

I could really get into golf. I like chess, poker, whiskey, and smoking. Golf seems like the next step.

Golf is great because as much as it can be a competition against others, its also against yourself. And its low impact, get to walk a couple of miles outside, drinking or getting high while playing is normal. I recommend it.

Nice. Congrats.

I got my first birdie a few years ago and it's a great feeling. I've only been golfing about dozen times but it's fun. I totally suck overall, but I'm capable of making some nice shots.

I've gotten 4 birdies in total. All of which were on short par 3s.

Congrats man! 210 is a pretty deep par 3 so that's impressive. Longest par 3 on my local course is about 195. Just getting it on the green feels like an accomplishment.

Congrats on the birdie. I played a bit of golf as a teenager, got a lucky chip-in birdie in my first round that I didn't deserve and never got one ever again.

Eventually I just decided that Mario Golf and Golden Tee were better for me than the real thing.

My putting and chipping is terrible. Basically anything less than a full swing of the club I have trouble with. So like 120-280 or so yards, im pretty good. I generally hit straight, maybe 2/10 are pulled to the left. Those 50 yard chips often end up 70 yards or 30 yards.

I did manage to sink a few putts today, but still generally double putting.

Last time I went golfing last year (octoberish) I had a decent chance at an eagle. It was low 500 par 5. First shot nailed dead center, between 280-300 yards. Second shot 2 hybrid from the fairway, call it 220 yards. i was on the skirt but only like 15 feet away. Green is difficult, ball catches a small hill and ends up like 30' away. Third put gets within like 5 and I call it a gimme bogey.

I play a bit. Go through times where I play several times a week to times like now where its less than once a week but a few times a month. Handicap goes from 8 or 9 to 15ish depending on how much Im playing.

Putting and chipping will come with practice and play. Got to keep doing it. Its worth practicing because being able to save par or avoid the big numbers makes a huge difference.

One of the things to work on when you are starting out is learning where you cant miss and playing away from spots that will end up with the doubles and worse.

part of the problem with putting and chipping for me is where to practice. for full swings i got some of those short flight that only go like 30 yards, so i've been able to practice that.
