Yeah, I'm still surprised how many classic rock radio stations are still around. It was old when I was a kid, and now that music is around 60 years old but it still hangs around. I dknt remember hearing 1930's music stations in every city in the 90s.
I'm sure the big reason is that the majority of people have switched to some type of streaming service, leaving behind 60 year old farts to listen to classic rock on the FM dial
have you ever considered that the classic rock era is composed of particularly amazing music. Don't get me wrong, I've moved past it but I don't think modern music has outdone that era. I primarily listen to funk and jazz now, and tire of the rock forumula, but there are lot of young people who havent heard it

in the end the demand is there, and i dont think it is from old people.

Pop culture has a shorter shelf life now. Is a good reason for this.

That's exactly it. 60 and 70 year olds aren't taking their phone and hooking it up to the car to stream Spotify just to listen tot he same songs they can hear on the 4 different Classic Rock stations that are still around.

clearly nostalgia goggles here

For some of the pop groups and singers - mostly yes. But at least they werent as annoying and actually had a couple of groovy catchy bangers, whereas anything by Billie is insta-cringe let alone the fact shes resting on cultural laurels of things people had done 20 years ago but ofc her fanbase wouldnt know or accept that.

As for popular bands, they were definitely both heavier, more unique, stylish and authentic than the current ones. And for every Limp Bizkit or Puddle of Mud you bring up as a counter-example there were lots of good ones and even moreso in the underground that never quite made it into constant MTV rotation.

FFDP fits right in with some of the nu-metal and post-grunge you're praising

Not really and not in the particularly good batch even if so. They had a song or two of older material that i enjoyed during early exploration back in the day, but nothing noteworthy enough.
Motograter was the much better band as far as Ivan Moody goes.

Also this.

This has just been a thread of "The music I like is the best, and the music I don't like sucks!"

Can we just share dope newer rock music itt now

The problem with rock is that its an old sound whichever way you twist it.
I enjoyed Mutoid Man out of those though.

i mean there are plenty of more experimental bands doing newer sounds, see Black Midi and Black Country New Road in my next post

when I make posts like this I tend to stick with more familiar sounding bands but theres lots of non traditional stuff out there too

Ah yes, becoming a vain bitch is what every mature person should aspire to.
Also, nice projecting since i didnt listen to much music back in high school except some rap which was the male equivalent of what you listen to except at least those were good rappers and had good beats, but that was 2005 or so.

I mean if I believe music from the 60s-00s is amazing and most things after the 10s is shit then thats a big drop in quality.
it's not an actual drop in quality; it's a drop in your opinion of the music

Yeah, I'm a vain bitch because of one artist you've noticed me listening to.

A slightly deeper look at my account would show Julien Baker as a recently major listen of mine.

Her music is anything but what you've complained at me about.

My for years have been refered to as the "sad girl country / sad girl anime" person amongst my friends.

Also I guess it's easy to just ignore The Clash.

I literally went through like 4-5 pages of your recent scrobbles and it was all full of trash rappers/pop singers and i wasnt aware of Julien anyway. I liked the song you posted and while its not my thing it was enjoyable and i also noticed its, while not sonically, but aesthetically similar to this:

I wonder what you think about this.
