There are discussions happening now. They will hold a vote on whether to invite them, needing 11 of 14 to do so. The only outspoken opponent of the move is Texas A&M.

The Super League is coming together. They just need Clemson and Ohio St. and the conference will be untouchable.

Its been dead. Only have 10 teams in a conference called The Big 12 cmon.
Yeah, but Texas and OU are the biggest money makers for the conference by far.

Lol as on OU fan, Id love for Texas to get stomped every time but OUs defense hasnt been good enough to hang with he SEC anyway. Theyll both end up with 2-3 losses every season.

Might help with recruiting. A&M benefited quite a bit from joining the SEC.

Texas is only joining so they can get in on the TV megadeals and the SEC Network. It's almost a no-brainer for them to join despite sucking for over a decade.

I just want college football to burn down, separate from colleges altogether, and go semi-pro.

But as a WVU fan, I appreciate what the Big 12 did, but I hate how far away the teams are. If this goes down, I would prefer to end up in the ACC, where the schools I actually hate play.

I can't imagine why either team would want to do this honestly

Texas has been mediocre in a weak conference and OU has been getting a nearly free ride to the playoffs

Like everything else, money is the biggest driver of these wonky looking conferences. I miss the days of the alignments being based on regional travel, as well as competition level. The amount of travel involved for teams these days should be reserved for the post season. The 80s and 90s were the best days of college ball.

Texas could probably recruit some players they couldnt have before now that they will be playing Alabama, LSU, and Auburn more. Players just want to get exposure and the SEC gives them that.

Bingo.

Yep and it worries me slightly. West Virginia does not have a huge native TV market. The largest cities have like 50,000 people. Large expat populations, but that's about it. If it's purely about TV money, it can F us over. Even though the football has played in national championships and won several BCS games. Hung 70 points on Clemson as recently as 10 years ago. Basketball team is a consistent top 15 team. Solid girls basketball and a power in soccer. But if we're going only off TV market, none of that matters.

I get the feeling we might see a "Super League" form.

SEC, Big 10 and PAC-12 split from the NCAA and form a league to avoid revenue splitting with smaller schools.

Dont feel bad. Nebraska has it way worse than yall lol. Went from a powerhouse football program under Osbourne to barely beating mid majors, and they travel to the Great Lakes and the Rust Belt for conference play.

After they fired Frank Solich, Osbournes successor and former assistant, is when they started sliding. He lost some key games that cost him his job. Probably made the higher ups wanted to move away from that Pro I Option offense and move into the spread era. Worst decision ever.

And also you have to remember who became top dog of the Big XII in the 2000sOklahoma, who was now running the Air Raid offense with Mike Leach as the OC under Stoops.

UT was no slouch in the 2000s with those 2 trips to the national championship and one win.

No doubt. I was simply pointing out that these teams had ditched the old run first schemes, and started spreading it out and throwing the ball. Solich was an Osbourne disciple so naturally his bosses felt he wasnt the one to usher the Huskers into the new age, despite him winning 80+% of his games with their version of the Pro I.
