Yes. It looks amazing when a game makes use of multiple ray tracing effects.

I love the way ray traced lighting looks and some games will probably only run on ray traced hardware, like Metro Exodus.

Ok, I honestly would love to see Exodus with perfect ray tracing. Did 2 playthroughs on Xbone and it still looked amazing.

No. I don't.

I appreciate effects that push realism but lets be real, it has zero effect on actual gameplay.

I prioritize gameplay.

I've turned off ray tracing without realizing and didn't even notice until I checked the settings again.

Nope. I'll try it out if/when I get a GPU or console that supports it. From what I've seen in screenshots, it looks marginally better, but not a huge difference.

Now on the other hand, that... DLSS was it? The one that lets the GPU render at lower resolutions then upscale it really well, and results in a significant performance improvement with very little loss of quality... now that is something I'm excited to get when I next upgrade.

No

Now, DLSS, that one I do care about

You enjoy making things blurrier at a lower resolution than what you paid for?

Just buy a 720p monitor or something.

There is a very significant loss of quality. DLSS is marketing garbage

I own a 3090. I use my GPU for what it's intended for instead of overpaying for legally blind simulator.

This guy is either getting paid to trash DLSS, or he's doing it for free and wishing he was getting paid

Again, I bought my 3090 and my Samsung G9 to take advantage of its hardware. If I wanted to pretend I was underwater, I'd buy a 1050 and dig up a monitor from the local dump.

Now link all the videos that show how great DLSS is.

Not to mention that video is about an outdated version of it that no game uses anymore.

there's not much of an opinion to be had really
ray tracing is actually barely video game related
it's used for 3d animated movies, rendering photorealistic images, etc. where rendering time barely matters
so obviously the technology does have its place
video games don't look as good because they can't do the more extreme shit. it's not that ray tracing is "bad" or doesn't look better than typical video game rendering, it's just there's different types of ray tracing and obviously video games have to go with what's fast enough (outside of cutscenes).
that said i don't actually know how good modern video games look because i mostly play nintendo and indie games lol

but yeah it's interesting how people see this topic and immediately think of video games (which was probably tc's intention as well) since that's where people actually hear about the technology.
and it's kinda sad that people are now calling it a gimmick based on its worst application lol

tl;dr it depends
