I thought it seemed pretty obvious that would be an option, if there was a model with no SSD and models with SSD. Which there is.

Don't 2230s have a small maximum storage limit because of their size >_>

There's a 2tb version somewhere I think, but yeah, more expensive.

Can they be upgraded with a better controller layout? Like seriously, the layout (and on some devices, battery life) is the biggest thing that's put me off already buying one of these style PCs - yes, there's a couple out there already (GPD Win3, Aya Neo are two examples - both of which have better layouts than the Steam one, heck, Aya Neo will be perfect for Xbox fans). I really like the idea of them.

You will likely have to since they said it's not really for end-user replacement.

I have a bunch of 256s and 512s laying around from laptops, so I hope it's easy.

When did laptops ever use 2230s for memory and not just bluetooth or wireless? I must have missed something lol

Valve will get bored of maintaining it in a few months like every other piece of hardware they've released

About 2-3 years. Dell/Alienware, Surface, Samsung and other ultrabooks and gaming laptops often use 2230 SSDs. They have room for 2280s, but include 2230s. Or some just throw in an extra slot for the stock storage.
