like why subject yourself to that shit? besides the malware, it's just annoying as fuck and muddies the browsing experience. youtube ads in particular are ridiculous, it would ruin the immersion in whatever Im trying to watch...

Meh. I enjoy content the creators make so the least I can do is watch a couple of ads so they can make a living. I'll also donate and join their patreon from time to time as well.

That sounds like a you problem. The ads on gamefaqs are just tiny pictures at the top of the page and occasionally a middle of discussion image and they don't access anything on my device because the browser literally does not have that permission.
