A couple times someone would ask me for money for either gas or food and I let them know I don't have cash but I'll gladly go inside the convenience store and put money on their pump or buy them food with my debit card and they get really upset.

I usually keep some slightly expired snacks in my car. Sometimes they take it sometimes they wont. But i would feel bad giving them money to shoot up or get loaded.
