Shit I watched it a few weeks ago myself! Spent a month trying to make it through all the Rambo sequels which I never watched before.

Why is it hard
to watch though? Especially compared to 2 and 3.

I saw it shortly after release and hated it. It has the violent realism of Saving Private Ryan, but with a gung-ho 80s action hero approach to its resolutions. It had two different ideologies of war that conflicted with itself.

I think what happened is he saw the surprising success of the rocky sequel 2 years prior and thought he'd just do the same thing but with Rambo, his other once big franchise.
