Looked gf 07/15/21 9:20:11 PM #1:	According to Shelter Island Police, the incident took place at 7:42 p.m. when an unleashed pit bull attacked a mother and daughter from Shelter Island who were walking their own small dogs, on leashes, on a town road in the Hay Beach section of town. The 17-year-old girl and her mother were both injured, one seriously, and transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport for treatment, police said. The pit bull's owner will be issued summonses for two town code violations, "biting dog," and "dog running at large", police said. I happened to be doing some yard work once, and I noticed that they spent the entire walk yelling at the dog to come back. I pointed out that if they put a fucking leash on the dog they wouldn't have to spent 30 minutes shouting at the dog while they chased it through every yard in the neighborhood. They just glared. So I also informed them that I don't appreciate them letting their dog shit in my yard, and I appreciate it even less that they don't bother to clean up after it. I happily offered to gather it up and bag it and deposit it somewhere on their property. They haven't "walked" the dog since, because they also have a large enclosed yard.
