He got a plea deal for one count of unlawfully protesting inside the Capitol. 6 months prison, $500 fine to help pay to repair the damages caused.
  • Dude just got out of prison for attempted murder a couple years ago
  • He got credit for time served, so he's either already released or going to be released today.

Seems fair it's not like he was a black man with a single joint. That's the kind of thing you need to do to warrant a couple years in jail.

'Justice' system is such a joke.

Lenient but expected. He should sit 25 years in the pen before they even think about letting him out.

Instead, he'll spend 6 months with neo-Nazis and more than a few COs who will lionize him. He'll come out worse than he went in and will have to be dealt with again.

He's gonna be getting out today if he's not already out because of the credit for time served. He already joined the neo-nazis in his previous prison sentence.

Ideological platitudes aside, you can only sentence somebody for crimes they actually committed. If all he did was walk into the building and yell about stuff, there's not much of a crime there.

Complete downplaying of the event. Try walking into any federal facility on any day and "yell about stuff" without authorization. See how that goes.

Now try it amongst thousands of others who brought guns, zip ties, nooses, pipe bombs who also smeared feces on the walls of the Capitol.

Not much of a crime?

Don't bite folks.

I know that's how it has been packaged this whole time. I know you want to see a bunch of passionate idiots go to jail for a long time over the incident. But as I said, it's based on the actual acts committed and the evidence thereof. If the rioter didn't personally break anything, issue threats, cause harm, etc. then there isn't much meat on the prosecutor's plate.

Remember these trials are going to court rooms, with juries, lawyers, etc. It's going to be tough to hand a 25 year prison term to somebody who walked into the lobby of a government building and yelled "I don't like democrats"

I doubt it would warrant a severe prison sentence. A fine, maybe a couple months in jail, a mark on the record...Word it however you like, but 99% of the rioters didn't actually do anything other than walk into the lobby.

If they committed assault, throw the book at them. If they made threats, throw the book at them. But once again, you can only charge and convict somebody for the actual crimes they committed. If they made no threats and caused no harm, then what exactly do you think they should be charged with?

Engaging in terroristic actions against an active session of the entire congress of the United States by definition should qualify as committing treason against the United States.

Their mere presence disrupted the proceeding. Being part of that group makes you culpable for the action of the entirety of the group and you should be held accountable as if you yourself were carrying a weapon.

They shouldn't be able to get away on technicalities "oh I just walked through"

Mf you were in a building you weren't allowed to be in, during a time you'd never be allowed to visit, with intent to disrupt the ongoing proceedings, in order to force the congress to change the results of a free and fair election.

If some lone guy somehow broke in during a random day of congress and was without a weapon or anything then yeah, slap him on the wrist.

Every single person there was following the order of Trump to march down to the Capitol in order to 'convince' them to not certify the election. Everybody who went down to the Capitol knew exactly what Trump meant.
