These dogs were made to fight Bulls then other Pitbulls. There exist a whole host of other dogs that are better for family pets, and dogs that are better for security. I don't understand why people defend them so much, and pick them up. It is as if they just want to be contrary. Like a rich person living in the tiny house.. to tell everyone they live in a tiny house.

Why pick a pit (or dogs in the family) over anything else.

Because my dog is a pitbull. They have breed tendencies but if you look at the tests they've done, golden retrievers and a host of other dogs are more 'aggressive', pitbulls are just one of the most common dog breeds.

They also tested 785 Golden Retrievers. Of those 669 passed and 116 failed leaving Golden Retrievers with an 85.2% pass rate. So you can see, according to their testing, Pit Bulls are slightly less likely to show aggression than one of America's most beloved breeds, the Golden Retriever, when given the same conditions

Pit Bulls were less likely to show aggression than: Beagles, Bull Dogs, Basset Hounds, Bichon Frise, Corgis, Chihuahuas, German Shepherds, Poodles, Yorkshier Terriers and so many more breeds that it would be impossible for me to list them all right here.

They also make great police dogs and are easy to train for complex tasks. The media loves to demonize them for click bait.

Pit bull attacks
Bearing in mind the severity of the injuries related to pit bull bites, some municipalities have limited or banned ownership of pit bulls as a way of reducing these incidents. Interestingly, despite several proposals to ban pit bulls in the City of Chicago, no such law has taken hold.
However, when evaluating dog bite attacks by breed, a 2008 study compiled by The Coalition for Living Safely with Dogs looked at all dog bites occurring in the Denver, CO area during the prior year. The study concluded that dog attacks were most common with the following breeds:

• Labrador retrievers: 13.3%
• Pit Bulls: 8.4%
• German Shepherds: 7.8%

I've been in threads where people bring up these facts again and again. Behavioral studies, statistics on dog attacks showing how rare they rare compared to the pitbull population. Nobody ever responds or refutes any of it. The people posting pitbull hate threads work entirely off of emotions, facts don't even register to them. That or they're just trolling.

Relatively recently.

Steve Bird and Laura Mullin both said they stepped in to break up the fight. Laura Mullin reported that she was bitten in the altercation but could not pinpoint which dog bit her.

Steve Bird told the board that he is 62 and 200 pounds, yet it took multiple kicks and punches to the retrievers to help separate the dogs.

Pitbulls may not be the most aggressive, but they are extremely lethal. A poodle will bark at you and a terrier might bite you, big fucking deal.

People have concide that there might be some dogs that are technically more aggressive due to the scale that was used. However the came of the attacks are still what is being looked at. This isn't about feelings .

Posted this last week, but nobody ever responded.

There are only 6000 to 13000 serious dog attacks a year, across all breeds, and there are 4.5 million pit bulls in the country. If we say that there are 13000 dog attacks a year (upper end of the estimates) and that every single one of those attacks are pitbulls, and that each attack is from a different dog, then... .03% of pitbulls attack someone each year. And obviously the actual number without all those caveats is much lower.

You should probably be way more afraid of humans randomly attacking you than pitbulls.

As a reptile guy, I will defend snakes. Most of them are great pets. However I draw the line at venomous snakes which you can own. I don't think that they should be in the hobby.

At this one reptile show I sent to . they have the Venomous section behind a curtain, but it was those that didn't go all the way to the floor. So if one got away he could go under it.
