Yeah, the "total gained" value looks REALLY bad for me right now, lol. I'm riding it out long term because the price has been pretty stable overall.

I mean, the ticker is ultimately tied to a commodity price, and isn't a company that's actually generating profits. So when the price of silver chops and stagnates as it has done over the past several months, your returns are of course going to suffer.

I mean I guess they technically don't expire until next year so there's still hope but functionally the prices haven't changed much overall.

Yeah, I wouldnt tie my horse to silver myself. I followed PM markets pretty closely but pretty much backed off more recently as things never seem to play out on the upside and always seems to be manipulated in one way or another. I still keep some in PPLT (tracks price of platinum) but Ive been holding that for years.

I have a Roth IRA through Vanguard and Ive been buying into VNQ and VYM with my more recent contributions since dividends dont get taxed in a Roth.

A bunch of mine, including this one, were purchased right at the valley of the 2020 crash in Mar/Apr, so I fully appreciate that timing played a big part in the success of these.

I have already sold a few that got up to 10-20% gain, but this one in particular was one I vowed to hold onto until expiration.

That said, the lesson I took away from this is to hold onto a decent amount of cash in the event there is another swift and hard crash, then load up the truck with as many LEAPs as I can afford to stock up on at the time.

Well I didn't go balls to the wall so not really that ballsy, but I believed hospitality based industries would recover in a big way post pandemic. I was originally spread out thin across AMC, Cinemark, and a few cruise / hotel industries but after reading some press releases from AMC I decided to sell all of it and go back AMC with 100% of what used to be my hospitality investments.

I still have most of my money in tech even after the absurd price spike.

So I put a grand or so in SLVO just to add another dividend to my portfolio a few months ago, Im about break-even with the losses vs dividend return. But my coworker looked into it after me mentioning it and he put nearly $50k into it at its peak this year. I told him start easy, I dont go all in on anything everI mean, I wish I had just kept the Doge and BTC I had gone hard into over the last couple years, but I digress. He thought he could nearly retire from the returns monthly. I meanhe does have a separate 401k and pension, so he probably could while combining with a lets say $1000 return monthly. Hes in his 40s so I mean, its definitely not unrealistic but Im pretty sure youd need likely half a mill to realistically replace an entire income.

Yeah, my long term goal is to get about $600k in SLVO and retire. 90,000 shares is my target number.

I just don't understand how a goal like this, which seems so attainable and easy to accomplish, isn't done more often.

What I'm getting at is, it sounds too good to be true. I've gotta be missing something here. You can just let that money sit in SLVO literally forever?

I would say it's attainable, but not easy to accomplish. It will take a lot of discipline over the course of 15 to 20 years for me to get there.

I'm underestimating my income in this plan, so I'm hoping I can get there sooner, but we'll see what happens.

Well, the price is down 50% from where it was 5 years ago. So if you don't keep reinvesting into it, you'll lose money.
