Eehhh the core game is still walking from point A to point B. There's some cool ideas in it for sure.
The main problem is how nonsensical and unsympathetic the main story is. Remember all the jokes about an "Eat Standing" twist based on what letters are dripping strands in the title? The game actually fucking pulls something similar to that where the name Your codec team is a bunch of stiffs until like two thirds of the way through when I will say the last chapter of the game, which doesn't deal with the main plot so much as a recurring side thread, is WAY better than the main story and almost redeems the narrative by way of how fucking good it is. The game is like a senile family member suddenly looking you in the eyes and saying something profound. What Kojima needs is some non-Yes-Men to tell him how not to be a George Lucas. --- ... I stopped playing the game when I heard about this re-release and I'm still anxious if there's cross save or even some sort of upgrade.

I mean, I'll always respect Kojima as an artist, and I respect that Death Stranding is the game that he wanted to make...but Death Stranding is maybe the worst game that I played last gen, and adding even more combat feels like a bad move, IMO.
