Study done by UC Berkeley over 10 years suggests just 17 minutes of use a day for a period of 10 years increases tumor risk by 60%. Particularly brain tumors.

take it as you will

That's a good question. Maybe arms length? Hopefully we get more studies on this. There's been a lot of studies about cell phone radiation and cancer rates, and they have been mostly dismissed.

The legal limit for radiation most phone companies test at is supposed to be about 25mm or nearly an inch from the body, like in a holster or case.

Against the body or in a pocket like most people do now, different phones like iPhones, LG, Samsung, etc. have about 3x-5x of radiation beyond the legal limit.

https://youtu.be/Wm69ik_Qdb8

Combine that with other risk factors for cancers like poor diet, no exercise, alcohol/tobacco use, age or stress... it's a pretty bleak outlook.

My dad ticked all of those boxes and used his phone against his head for years. He developed a stage 4 glioblastoma in 2017 and lasted with his condition, 3 brain surgeries and one heart surgery for 3 years.

If you have/had someone in your family with brain cancer, maybe you'd be a little more than willing to look at different studies or new interpretations of data and results, then share that with others that may be in a similar situation.

You may not have intended to, but either way, there's no need to bring it up in manner like you did that assumes it should be casually ignored or not taken with somewhat of a degree of scrutiny. People here have friends and loved ones that are or were affected, directly or indirectly, by brain tumors and cancers.

Interesting that the IARC group is the one that had the decreased instances, and that some epidemiological studies before 2011 found a 2x risk overall in brain tumors for using a phone for 10+ years.

It definitely should be "casually ignored" that one study according to one news publication says there's a link to brain cancer and telephone use.

What should happen is that people who actually do and understand scientific studies on the subject should use the results and conclusions of the study itself as the basis for further research, if indeed those results and conclusions merrit such.

You do know that cellphone radiation is not the same as like... Chernobyl radiation, right?

There's lots of different types of "radiation".

There's lots of different types of "radiation".
It basically means the amount of RF energy that can be safely emitted without causing bodily harm, the same way that a phone's battery is structured in a way to never exceed a certain temperature and minimize harm, such as the case with the Galaxy Note 7 explosions years ago.

The problem is the lack of transparency or agreed consensus for what is considered "safe" or "unsafe".
