It's preachy, the characters are more annoying than they are relatable, and the music numbers went on way too long for me.

What's preachy about it? Only character that's unlikeable is Vanessa imo, but even then I saw where she's coming from.

Seems a bit harsh but I'd say that overall, yeah I didn't like it much, it was just okay. Some of the songs were aiight, some of them were straight up terrible/boring.
But I really appreciate what this movie is based on, since I can clearly see the template and groundwork for Hamilton, Lin's magnum opus, and one of the greatest show of all time. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Why is Vanessa unlikable I didn't like how she kind of looked down on the area she lived in. Her main drive in the movie is wanting to live in the nicer part of town. Contrast that to Nina who loved the community she grew up in, and wanted to come back. But I get it. Living in richer areas has its benefits.
