I spent all morning cleaning up the neighbor's fireworks out of my yard. Fireworks fucking suck.

jeeze that does sucks.

I watching the Godzilla movie very loud last night and it calmed my dog for a bit. As soon as it's over. there just had to be more fireworks around 11.....

There are noise limits. Hell, in Los Angeles, large fireworks are actually illegal. But it's hard to enforce any of that when it's happening en masse across the city.

It's 12:39 am now and I'm still hearing quite a bit of fireworks. Thankfully though, the houses closest to me stopped around 11:50pm, so it's not nearly as loud as it was from about 7:30 to 11:50

1. its not supposed to be 2 days. Its one night and you should stop at a reasonable hour
2. its not even just 2 days. People do it for days leading up.
3. you can tell these people were intentionally doing it to piss her off for their viral video. For all we know she went out calmly and asked them to stop but you can tell theyre going overboard just to keep the eventual reaction going.

I can kind of understand. I like fireworks, and they're fun on the 4th, but some asshole neighbors have shooting them off starting all the way back in May, and we're sick of not having as much sleep. It also drives one of the dogs crazy. I don't wanna be that person, but I'm tired of it. Because they did it last year too. If I ever find out who it is and where, I might become the dreaded party pooper and file a noise complaint.

As an adult in America you have to know to expect fireworks on the 4th. I dont really care for fireworks but Im not gonna complain if other people do it. Its once a year.

The world doesnt revolve around this lady. Get over it. There are so many things she could have done to address the noise. Coming outside screaming makes her look insane and she deserves to be made fun of for it.

Me & My Girlfriend, and her Roomate all use to work graveyard shifts. So we'd go to work around 11PM, and get home around 7 PM. We had a neighbor who would get up around the same time we'd be getting home and put on "Nursery Rhymes" and start singing to their baby for like an hour, and that's what we had to attempt to fall asleep to. This husband and wife would literally blast BABY SHARK whats seemed like every freaking day, and then sing along to it "Baby Shark, do do do do do do, Baby Shark dodo do do do do do!" We could hear their baby giggling too - it was fucking weird and uncomfortable as fuck.

Anyhow, it was new years eve, and my girlfriend, her roommate, and their friends were having a very mild New Years Eve party. When midnite struck, and everyone went crazy (fireworks were outside, not from us) we got a knock on our door. It was the husband of the family that always blasts us with Baby Shark every morning asking us to keep it down.

My girlfriend's roommate opened their door, and the dude shamed her. Said they couldn't sleep, and we were being rude. She got all shy and apologized. I was so pissed off. I was like - you fuck with us every damn morning, and you wont even let us have New Years Eve. A day where its is taboo, and acceptable to make noise at midnight. A day where you all have the following morning off to sleep in (probably) - I went up there knocked on the door, and when the dude answer I blasted him with "BABY SHARK" on my phone.

I told him that we all work graveyard, and we have to listen to this shit every fucking morning when trying to sleep, and you have the audacity to come down and tell us we are being rude for celebrating fucking new years? I said his next action will determine our neighbourly relationship going forward. Either he comes down, apologizes to my roommate and my girlfriend - or I'm a start knocking on your door every fucking morning that you blast baby shark. So they need to make a choice, come back down and apologize...or delete baby shark from the fucking playlist.

Dude was embarrassed, came down, and apologized. I out Karen'ed the Karen.

Midnight, but nobody around here [Portland] will enforce it. However, they don't bother me at all. I live close to a train that rolls by blowing it's horn at all hours of the night, and we get a lot of gun shots as well. So fireworks are just background noise, a long with all of that.

Same here. Jackasses shot fireworks until 2-230am. Ordnance supposed to kick in at 11, but nobody showed up to put stop to it.

I love fireworks, but as bad as fire season has gotten around here the last few years, I just don't think they're worth it anymore. I really don't want the sky turning red for a week again like with the wildfires last year.

I think simple logic would say if she is the only one upset then she is in the wrong.

4th of July isnt something that should come as a surprise. Even if she didnt agree with what theyre doing she handled it wrong.

She is 100% in the wrong. I dont care what the excuse is. Yelling and screaming like a child is not a productive way to start a conversation. Ever.

Not only did we have to deal with the Baby Shark people, but the building we lived in doubled as a summer school for asian kids, so around noon there would be about 80 very mild manner asian children aged 5 - 16 in our hallway, the damn water fountain and bathrooms were directly across from our apartment.

Also on our floor was a fingerprinting place, and the instructions on how to get their were very confusing and at least three times a week we'd get loud knocks on our door and people spamming our bell trying to get to the fingerprinting place. At one point some guy actually opened our door, and sat on our couch, while we were sleeping. I tried to put a sign on the door that said fingerprinting is the door across the hall, but putting such signs on doors were against the building code for residential occupants.

We also had a patio type structure that you were not supposed to go onto (and we never did) but it was very large, and you could theoretically go out there by climbing out your window. The family next too us would often go out there and chill, have picnics, do aerobic workouts, and even thought their son how to ride a bike. The issue was they wouldn't stay in their zone, and would often post up right in front of our bedroom window.

We NEVER complained. We realize that most people do NOT work graveyard hours, and we realize that half the building is commercial. So we just adapted to it.

In fact, we started having kinky loud sex whenever someone would approach on our space - to try and drown out the noise and make it uncomfortable for the others - it never worked tho. Even with a bunch of teenagers waiting patiently in the hallway to do two hours of math...the sex never cause anyone to bat an eye, and we were loud as fuck lol.

We don't know that she is the only one upset by them and it's doubtful that she would be, especially if they've been going on for any prolonged amount of time. She might have been the only one to go off like this but who knows what her circumstances are that led to this while others remained quiet.

It doesn't have to be a surprise for it to be a problem. They're loud and repetitive noises that will get on most people's nerves before you even factor in potential mental health, sleep/work, pet and other issues that make it harder. Even if you can anticipate and prepare for this, there's no guarantee you can avoid it. I sleep with earplugs in anyway because I live near a major street but I could still hear and feel quite well many of the bigger ones someone kept setting off until 3am.

How do you start a productive conversation with people who are shooting loud, flaming projectiles in a residential neighborhood (and more than likely doing so illegally) with no regard for everyone around them? They are displaying in the most obvious way possible that they don't care about anything or anyone that disapproves of what they're doing.

Now, don't get me wrong, I understand the appeal of fireworks and I don't mind people having their fun. There are kids in the neighborhood who will shoot a couple off in their driveways right around dusk and it's no big deal. Then there are the people who take it way too far, constantly firing off big shit until all hours of the night for many days prior to and after the holiday. Either way, I never say anything to any of them and certainly don't call the police because I don't see any way to get through to them, and dealing with people of that caliber is usually far more grating than listening to the noise they make.

However, I personally have nothing that's going to exacerbate the effects of the noise pollution. I can't say this lady handled it right or wrong because we don't know her or what else led to this besides the very understandable nuisance of fireworks.

They're dangerous. They're noise pollution. They're air pollution. They disturb people, pets, and wildlife. The only upside to them is the joy obtained by the person/people setting them off to the potential detriment of everyone else. Now, I could be wrong but I thought the idea that someone being as loud, obnoxious, and dangerous as they want while everyone who doesn't want to put up with that can fuck off was the Karen behavior.

People dont think about how they inconvenience people on a daily basis. Dogs that bark, babies that cry, all kinds of shit. You have to just tune it out sometimes. Thats life. Thats being an adult.

Yelling and screaming isnt the way. If she had simply waited until those went off and approached them in a normal manner then Id say theyre in the wrong. Thats not what happened though. All I see is some lady screaming at guys who cant even hear her. That isnt normal human behavior.

People keep bringing up these scenarios what about people with mental health/PTSD. If you took no precautions to protect these people before a known holiday then thats irresponsible on your part. We cant always control our environment but we can prepare for it. Getting angry at everyone else for your own lack of preparation is just as bad as the people lighting fireworks.

Then take it up with law enforcement. Fireworks are banned in Kansas City and I still hear them going off relentlessly every Independence Day even late into the night. Missouri is actually #1 in the nation in terms of amount of fireworks purchased per capita. Banning wont stop anything.

Even if they were banned then you take it up with law enforcement at that point. You dont just start screaming. Hey guys do you mind wrapping up for whatever reason? If not, Im going to have to call law enforcement. Most people will oblige because most people do not like confrontation. Youd be surprised how quickly most people with cooperate if you simply use words.

What if that one night is before an important day for someone? What if it was at the end of a long day? Comparing fireworks to dogs and babies, two things I'm not particularly fond of tbh, is really dumb btw. Dogs and babies have far more purpose/utility/meaning than a series of fleeting moments of fireworks displays.

Aside from basing this on a video devoid of context, likely intentionally to manipulate people into feeling a certain way, how do you arrive at this conclusion? The fireworks people are creating a disturbance. They're endangering and bothering other people, and likely breaking the law in the process. Not that I care about the law in matters like this but that seems to be an important factor for people in certain other instances, so I figure it's worth bringing up here, too. She's merely responding to people who are showing everyone around them no consideration. How does their selfish behavior not factor into who's wrong or right in your book but someone throwing a tantrum in response is some huge affront?

I agree that vulnerable people should be safeguarded from assholes but to turn that around as a reason to yet again shift blame from the actual problem is something else.

You've set this up so that the people creating this whole problem with their selfish choices are never responsible or worthy of contempt. On top of that, we can never speak out or discourage this behavior because people are apparently like natural disasters who can't be held responsible for their choice to bother everyone else but those who don't handle them the "right" way can be for theirs and need to do better.

I heard fireworks nonstop from about 7pm til about 3am on the 4th. There are at least a dozen houses on my small street that just set them off constantly all summer and Amp it up like crazy on the 4th.

Gotta disagree there. This year has been extremely dry so my county has a ban on fireworks. Seems fair, I don't want my house to burn down because someone wanted to see colorful lights and hear loud booms.
One of my neighbors was setting them off and I went over and asked them to stop, he didn't know there was a ban this year. Every great now and then things get resolved just by talking. We ended up compromising by comparing pews and popping some caps on his property instead which was way more fun anyway
