Basically, the government will order the military to violently break into tons of houses at random to inspect for guns/weaponry and take any they see. If guns are being hidden from them, the owners of the house will be arrested. Do you think the US should do this?

Hell no. You can't just have the military randomly burst into people's houses. If anything, that would probably cause shoot outs between the military and people that don't want to give up their guns.

it should be done in phases

Phase 1- gun buy back
gov pays for guns 1k for pistols, 3k for shotguns, 5k for assualt rifles etc

Phase 2- gun free zones
put up signs stating this area is gun free basically meaning that if you have a gun on in you you are going to jail for 12months
place these signs in majority of neighborhoods and pretty much all buildings.

Phase 3- final gun buy back. Stricter gun free zone policies like statewide gun free zones if caught with a gun you are looking at 3yrs in prison an extra clip of bullets adds 2yrs and 2 more years per clip. A murder with a gun looking at 15yrs minimum.

The phases should be like 3 or 4 years long to ease people into it

Why would a murder only get someone 15 years? It's already life. And at least you admitted that you'd keep taking away rights little by little. That's how gun control advocates operate.

Im no law maker I meant a crime with a gun would be minimum 15yrs. And yeah i think modern humans need to evolve past guns literally just murder toys at this point. The only threat is criminals with guns. The UK and Japan seem to be gun free and they are ok. Gun owners act like they live in some daily warzone knowing damn well theyd probly call the police if there was a situation anyway

Sounds great, until you realize schools, movie theaters, and other public places are already gun free zones. It's not a magic barrier, more like prime real estate for someone who shouldn't have a weapon has no issue with breaking another law.

No guns in this neighborhood? Guess we hit a jackpot.

Think this would be a fast way to get a lot of people within the military to turn on the government, if you started telling them to confiscate everybody's guns.

Not to mention a great way to get a lot of military members killed.

Changing opinions on guns is a generational thing and its not going to happen overnight. Its not about stopping the current generation owning guns. Its about making less of the next generation so keen on them.

Only the police, an alleged white supremacist organization, should have guns. That'll solve everything.

*True story a man in Germany had both fully functional in his basement/home until a few years ago. Allegedly used the panther as a snow plow for his driveway once.

Typically as many sensible responses as stupid ones. Gun ranges don't have to shut down if you really think you're losing your manliness by not owning something you can kill a person with from 20ft away with. It's just long overdue banning normal -allegedly rational- people from owning something that's most likely never going to be used by them and stolen by a kid to shoot a shop clerk with over some cigarettes and beer.

How fucking insecure do you have to be to carry something to show people not to say anything you don't like to your face? A civil war won't do you any good because obviously the gun-toting morons will overcome the intelligent peacemongers. Because why talk like an educated person when you can blow someone's brains out and have the last word?
