Literally calling his neighbor so he can watch her enter his property in case there was someone waiting there to kill him

This is just the tip of the iceberg for all the fucked up shit he did obv. It's still so interesting to watch him start out as a mild mannered science teacher, and then turn into this evil criminal mastermind

Walter is a piece of shit but to be fair I didn't take it that way. He knew that they were waiting/looking for him specifically and they wouldn't have killed her.

He can't guarantee they wouldn't have harmed her. He literally put her in danger

I still find it fascinating that people white knight (no pun intended) for people like Walter White and Joel from the Last of Us actually being good people

Even though they do unforgivably horrible things constantly and the writers delibrately portray them as digusting evil people who are unquestionably in the wrong

I swear a guy could shoot 20 people in the street and if you had a camera behind him showing him going to work and talking to his family for a few hours first, people would defend him as a good guy.

Some guys just seem naturally drawn to defending and liking protaganists as goodie heroes in a story no matter what.

Its such a fun show and hes a fun villain, but Americans are weird in that they actually hate characters who are bad. Like, want them removed from the show. I remember this with Joffrey. The show was so much better with Joffrey around

Uh I don't think you understand how typical Americans react to the show. They literally root for the worst character because he's the protagonist and despise his wife because she obstructs his path
I have to agree with this.

The fact people think Walter is good and Skylar was in the wrong is .... just stunning

after he got blood on his hands on his first kill, i thought that Walter just had to embrace the sickest thing he'd encounter, be it a problem or a solution and like he said, he'd rather do those things than curl up and wait for his death, like the title of the show said, breaking bad

Who carea how moral they are as long as they're interesting characters.

I've never seen anyone argue Walt was a good person lol. People just like him because he was a great character who did cool shit

You can root for an objectively bad guy to win. I wanted Walt to come out on top because he was that good of a villain. That being said, he was a terrible human being.

I loved how the show ended and didn't have a dumb theory that would have reversed the outcome in anyway.

I remember a lot of discussion after the finale about whether or not he lived. A lot of people wanted to think he survived somehow

I'm glad they didn't do it but when El Camino was announced I also had my doubts. Again I'm glad they didn't do it but if anyone could do that right and not make it seem like an ass pull it would be Vince Gilligan.

It's easy for a villain to hang around too long. Gus Fring wasn't around too long. Joffrey was.

I think the idea of the show is that Walter was always that guy, but got beat down by life/skyler/family/his career failures until he become the docile person he was at the start of the show. Then slowly he gained his prowess back and so to came the arrogance and shithead behavior.

People have a hard time differentiating liking an aspect of a person vs liking the person overall. Walter White (Tony Montana) is fun to watch because of his rise to power and seeing how his character changes over time, but it's obvious to anyone able to introspect at all that you aren't supposed to idealize him.

It's cause they're well-written characters based off how real people might act. So, of course people of the same mind would agree with their actions. This observation has no moral implications.
