So he always wins and is bored cause nothing is a challenge and no one can touch him, right?

Where does the plot go? Why do people talk about cool fights scenes?

Lol there's another topic here and I'm curious myself. If he wins every time from one punch, how are there any threats?

The plot really revolves around the other characters. One Punch Man will inevitably save the day but the meat of the story takes place before he does.

Saitama (the punch guy) is more of a setpiece. Almost all the drama/story revolve around the other heroes, of various powersets and personalities

In the latest Manga chapter, we haven't seen Saitama (main character) in like 5 or 10 chapters. We're seeing the other heroes from the hero association fight monsters.

He's actually ranked among the B class heroes (C being lowest, S being highest) because he didn't do well in his written exam, despite destroying every records for the practical exams.

He does the bulk of his one punching for the first few chapters/episodes, and then it becomes much more focused on the world and people around him. That's kind of the point of it as well.

It's a comedy, it's not supposed to be serious. It also happens to have some incredible animation.

The second season seems to miss most of the humor and has pretty bad animation as well, probably the most disappointed I've ever been in a show.

hes not the only character and he cant be everywhere at once. Also, the biggest challenges for him are for him to remain strong of character when no one really knows what hes capable of and accuse him of stealing glory from heroes that work harder to achieve less. His best fights come when theres a desperate situation only he can handle but theres no one left to witness his feats.

The show is secretly about Genos. Saitama is just there to be a gag.

you know every action anime you've ever seen, where the main character struggles but still wins? yeah, one punch man is kind of a huge fuck you to that. the MC powerwalks through fights without a care in the world, letting the enemy launch every supermove they've got before offhandedly bitch slapping them to oblivion. its essentially the equivalent of taking any anime protagonist at the end of their run and dropping them right at the beginning of the show with all their broken powers already unlocked. the whole premise is to subvert the trope.

its interesting because of the characters, the "fights" are just eye candy.

It is kinda like Hellsing. You get some neat fights with the other characters, but you know as soon as Alucard shows up the it is over. You are either going to get Alucard toying with them and THEN assblasting them, or sometimes he immediately decides to go for the assblast.

OPM is literally just same thing.

not any different than something like DBZ. The most interesting parts are when the weaker characters are barely struggling to survive, then Goku shows up and has a boring drawn out fight with the big bad that you know he's gonna win. OPM makes that last fight one punch and gets it over with.

I recommend just reading it. The first arc does focus on him and what you described however after that much of the plot is following other characters while Saitama/OPM is more for comedic relief.

Its an amazing battle shonen. Probably the best I have had the pleasure of reading since Dragon Ball and Yu Yu Hakusho.

It's a comedy series where 99% of the time "Caped Baldy" (Saitama aka OPM) doesn't fight anybody. We'll watch other characters have legit fights against other characters, lose, and then Saitama one-shots them. Much of the humor comes from people underestimating Saitama for one reason or another, only to be amazed and then shocked by the fact that nobody else seems to understand how strong he actually is.

There was an episode where Saitama kills some high-level mooks in the beginning, then spends the rest of the episode trying to find the big boss who is running roughshod over every single character.

Because the animation is fantastic and you see either people legit fight villains. And even Saitama fights baddies, he lets them get their shit in just to see if they can hurt him before taking them out.

Season 1 was an action show with exceptionally high quality animation and a funny parody of shounen anime. It's easily in my top ten, it was that good in my opinion. Season 2 had somewhat of a similar vibe but without the crazy good animation, and it felt like it became a very good but typical shounen. That's just what I got from it. I haven't read much further in the manga.

He's not just a deus ex machina, he has his own challenges outside of monster attacks. His given superhero name is "Caped Baldy", so he joins a protest with other poorly named heroes to challenge the status quo. Meanwhile, the other main characters are dealing monster attacks and betrayal - typical shonen stuff. The dissonance between the plots and level of seriousness is a part of the humor and satire.
He also has a very different perspective of his superhero activities. After all, he only became a superhero "as a hobby." Non-specific spoilers ahead: While in front of a crowd, Saitama destroys a big boss monster that just beat or killed a bunch of high ranking heroes. One of the people he just saved starts saying how worthless all the other heroes were. So to diffuse the situation, Saitama plays the role of an asshole, pretending the other heroes softened the monster up and he got the killing blow. This makes him look bad while giving the crowd a reason to respect the heroes that died to protect them.
