Some notes:

• Australia only has had 30,000 cases of COVID total, population 25mil (20,000 of those were in one state)
• Only 910 deaths
• Widely praised for our handling of COVID, life has essentially been normal since June last year for all states except Victoria (the state with the 20k outbreak)
• Yes, it's very sparsely populated if you look at population density per square km/mile, but 85% of the country lives on the coastline
• Only 4% of the population are fully vaccinated due to the governments slow vaccine rollout
• Part of this slow rollout is due to the fact we are using AstraZeneca, the one linked to blood clots in young people, and vaccine hesitancy caused by continually changing information:
• Feb: Anyone can get AZ. March: Anyone over 50 can get AZ, under 50 wait for Pfizer. June: Anyone over 60 can AZ, under 60 wait for Pfizer. Last night: Anyone under 40 can get AZ because the government are indemnifying GPs if young people get blood clots (literally).
• We now have Delta COVID outbreaks in four major capital cities
• State borders are closing
• Cities are going into lockdown again (Sydney in 2 week lockdown, Perth in 5 day lockdown and Brisbane expected to be announced today/tomorrow)

55,000 people attended a rugby match on Sunday night in Brisbane (my city). Now they've said 63 police working there are close contacts for Delta.

Remember, 4% of Australians are fully vaccinated, largely people over 50 and front line health workers. Others (myself included) want the vaccine, but we literally cannot get it (until now, where we've been told to go get the vaccine that we've been told not to get for months).

The Federal Government wanted to handle the vaccine rollout because they were jealous that the states were getting the credit for the lockdowns. Whoops.

I will say that about Scomo, I've never seen a politician as good at spin as he is. He truly is magnificent at it. He should be the general manager of a sports team, he would absolutely finesse trades and contracts.

So far yes. One of the big spreader events had 24/30 people infected. The 6 people who weren't infected were all vaccinated. One person only having the first shot.

Although only 2% of Australians are currently fully vaccinated with around 25% having booster shots. Federal Government fucked up the rollout.
