Very unhappy with the ending. The game was fun to play (even though I sort of only knew what was going on). But, when I saw the credits come up, I was like "WAIT! Where's the rest of the game?!" I thought there was a lot more to go. The ending was very unsatisfying. And I was waiting for a greater mystery to be revealed, but that was it.
Not worth a replay.

Have you played it?

I played a little bit of it on the PS5. I managed to die before ever leaving my room. I thought, "oh that's kind of cool" and never returned to the game.

i finished with 30 hours and, right up until the credits, thought i was only a third of the way through the game

I really liked the game but it feels like looses steam when you enter the second area. Like optional quests become less meaningful and characters will start long rants about politics. When we're 2/3 into the game, it's about time to slow down with the world building and move the plot forward a bit.

Not in the traditional sense. But it has skill checks and depending on how they roll, the ending changes somewhat

The ending clicked for me the 2nd time. First time i dislike the main culprit is outside the cast, but the 2nd time they actually very subtly foreshadows him and he's very in-line with the games themes. It helps too the vo for deserter in final cut is FANTASTIC. Every lines spoken bleed bitterness festering along with madness.

The choice you made mostly determine your character internally and not the world outside. Disco elysium is about self discovery, self forgiveness (or loathing), second chances (as well as squandering it). Changing the world was too much for poor old harry. Unlike other RPG you don't play hero and save the world. You're a broken man by some freak accident got a chance to see his actions from an outside perspective that allows him to self-amend or wallow in regret and despair.

That's true, but depending on how the rolls work out you can talk to the creature or it runs away upon contact

The themes are about people shaped, broken by the politics of their world. Harry due to wealth inequality and the high stress, low pay system established by the moralintern, as well as his relationship. Rene is relic of the past, similar to the deserter. He could've easily be the deserter if it wasn't for his friend. Klaasje because of her job, the dead soldier have ptsd. The deserter fit in this cast of characters plus his presence was foreshadowed multiple times. The footprint in the attic, hiding place in the feld building basement, the kids in the shore telling someone lives in the island.
