Why do you run from problems? Why do you try to drink them away? I confront the dilemma of whether I really want to be alive or not every single day. I had a traumatic childhood that I wont go into detail about because it puts me in a very uncomfortable state of mind. Even tangentially describing it is fucking me up rn. I know my past doesn't define me, but it takes a lot of effort to emotionally unlearn things deep in my psyche that were once useful in keeping me alive. I've come really far in dealing with my problems but I still have a few spots left to polish. I've accepted that alcohol is simply going to be a part of my life, at least for the moment, because I like the way it feels, but I'm getting much better at setting limits for myself and giving myself opportune times to drink.
