And if Uncle Biden has his way with this $6 Trillion dollar package, parents will continue to get monthly Stimulus checks for the duration of the next 4 years!

I'll be getting $750 a month....but that's not all! That's only HALF of the payment! That's right, come tax time in April of 2022, you'll get the OTHER HALF of the Earned Tax Credit too! All that for the next 4 YEARS STRAIGHT!!!

all together now: "THANK-YOU UNCLE BIDEN AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY FOR GETTING THINGS DONE"

But only like 63 million Americans are getting this stimulus, not the other 320 million people that are struggling to make ends meet so they justify that reason to not have children (for good reason) and now they are in the cold for the next 4 years. Seems harsh, but no, I don't see it causing major inflation.

Not like on the level of the LAST Stimulus Package. We're STILL reeling from the inflated effects that caused.

Edit: Now the Parents of California on the other hand....THOSE people are making BANK. Especially if they haven't been paying rent.

Yeah, you -REALLY- need to read the fine print on these things. If you qualified for the $1400 stimlus AND you have children, you automatically enroll to a 6 month stimulus program extending until December 15th of 2021. At that time payments will end BUT if this infrastructure package PASSES, those payments will be extended for a further 4 MORE YEARS.

ALSO: that's only HALF of your payment. You receive the OTHER half of the payment when you file your taxes in April of 2022.

Yes....but you're understanding it incorrectly. The credit was increased to help poverish parents trying to deal with the burden of raising children. According to data recording centers, some 60% of American Parents are still struggling to make ends meet. To attack this, Biden and his team worked with professionals and experts to target the last stimulus package to the people that, in their eyes, needed it the most: The parents of America.

The extended benefit didn't apply to THIS year's taxes (because we always file our taxes for the year before) so NEXT YEAR we get the increased benefit. But starting in JULY, we get a down payment on that and every month for the next 6 months.

no, i understand what it is. i am a cpa

but you are the only who has it wrong. it's not monthly stimulus. it's your child tax credit paid out in monthly increments instead of a tax credit when filing the return. topic had me confused like some new bill just passed.

It was literally in the 3rd Stimulus Bill...how is this -not- a stimi when the government is giving back money that is rightfully given to them to hold?

It's even being paid out BY THE IRS. Since WHEN did the IRS give out MONTHLY PAYMENTS?

it's your child tax credit....just being paid in advance. the stimulus were payments made to people under a certain agi that were otherwise unconditional. you need a child to receive this credit. it used to be $2k now it's $3k for kids 6-17 and $3.6k for kids 0-5.

they also increased the dependent care credit with the tax law changes...but you'd be hard pressed to call that a stimulus too it's a credit as well

So because it's considered a "conditional payment" this transaction is no longer considered a "stimulus" injection? Perhaps I'm just getting my jargon wrong, I'm no CPA, in fact I'm rather uneducated. But regardless of what I'm calling it or what you're calling it, I think we're both saying the same thing using different words?

no. it's a tax credit. you will report on your taxes how much money you received and it will net out with how much credit you were to have for 2021

Wtf are you talking about. Especially on something that doesn't have an article linked.

You don't have to be hetero or cis to be a parent. And there's plenty of people that are hetero and cis that WONT get a check. All he is doing is giving the child tax credit monthly instead of a lump sum at tax time.

I think what they're saying is that this isn't anything new, just moved in the calendar year. Nothing has changed but the date you receive it. The stimulus ones were new. Non-parents are not missing out on anything, parents remains the same, just a new date

It is new, they raised the limit AFTER taxes were filed. Literally the government is giving us a upfront, interest free loan. Parents do not pay taxes at the end of the year, they receive a tax refund. But this refund is only given after the Government takes THEIR cut. This year and hopefully every year for the next four years, we'll be given a portion of that back at a HIGHER AMOUNT, earlier in calendar year BEFORE we even file our taxes. In short, govy doesn't give until they get theirs but for the next 6 months, regardless of what you make as an individual or as a couple....you get a -flat- rate upfront withdrawal on your taxes before the government even gets your numbers.

They can be screwed by this in so many different ways, there's a reason they don't give cash until you file the paper work in the first place....but now they are moving to an "honor system" where they are just paying up front and hoping to recoup your cash further down the road.

If this isn't a stimi, I guess I don't know what is. The IRS isn't in the business of giving money away to the people.

This entire topic is about conversation, entertainment, and awareness and I delivered on all 3 fronts.

You are aware that I never claimed to be the source of this news, right? I said in a post a LOOOONG time ago to google the information for yourselves. You're the ONLY PERSON sitting in this topic saying "your use of the word STIMULUS is wrong ergo this entire topic is MOOT AND FORFEIT."
