I mean, did anyone think it was still coming out at this point? I don't recall SFxT doing super well (I liked it enough, for what it's worth) and then there was no word about the followup for a decade

SFxT's base game was fine, it was the gems (most noticeably paid DLC/Pre order gems being better) and disc locked characters that really fucked it over.

Permanently shelved and canceled both mean the same thing. Canceled games get revived about as often as permanently shelved games do. Calling it a mistranslation is a bit silly.

He didn't say it was permanently shelved, either.

EDIT: I mean, let's be clear, it's never coming out. But the words he used are paused/pending. Permanently shelved would only be accurate if he had no desire to ever work on it, but he stated he does, there are just tough circumstances around it.

EDIT EDIT: Oh, I see where you got "shelved" from. Read it again. He's talking about an illustration that their rights expired on and they can't currently use it, thus it's "shelved"/in storage. He also says that's where the misunderstanding came from, since people thought he was talking about the game when he was talking about the illustration/artist collaboration.
