Btw some of his own people ended up attempting to assassinate him at least 2 times. They realized he was going too far. But they kept fucking up the plan. I wonder how history would have gone had they succeeded

killing hitler would not work because if anyone killed hitler ww2 would never happen and with no ww2 there would be no reason to go back in time to kill anyone

These topics always remind me of an amusing short story that I read on the internet long ago. It was a conversational story about somebody becoming a time traveler and immediately deciding to go back in time to kill Hitler, and then the rest of the time travelers talking about how fucking annoying it is that every new time traveler immediately tries to go and do something that will result in time travel never being created and the rest of them have to keep stopping it and saving Hitler over and over again.

It's funny because if the Pope survives one assassination attempt then people will say he is blessed by God, well then what the fuck do you call Hitler surviving 42 assassination attempts?

Anyway if time travel is even possible, we have no idea how it works. Do you create a seperate branch like the MCU that is its own reality? Is it like Back to the Future where what happens in the past now effects the future so you can erase things? Is it like The Time Machine where if you go back in the past to change an event from your present it would mean you then have no reason to go back in time and thus nothing really changes at all?

We have no idea what, if anything, would actually happen. But if you could change anything you would literally be erasing billions from existence. No Hitler and WWII means no baby boomers and their children and their children's children. The population of the world now is around ten times what it was pre WWII. Not to mention the massive technological advancements that were a direct result of the war. There would be no computers or internet to debate this on.

That's all working on the assumption that some alternate series of events wouldn't have happened to spur a similar population and technology boom. It's almost impossible to even speculate

Except war always leads to jumps in technology. This is true for almost any time period. Nearly the entire modern world can be traced back directly to inventions that happened during or as a result of WWII. The same happens with population explosions after wars. Because the soldiers come home and fuck like rabbits. There's a reason they are called Boomers, because the baby boom after WWII resulted in the biggest generation the world had ever seen, only to be surpassed by their own children, Millenials. Its doubtful any event other then a global war would have resulted in such a population explosion. The world population doubled in less then 30 years after the war. It tripled within 50. Without the Baby Boomer generation it would never have grown that fast.
