I think the reason I find their use in Voyager so egregious is because the ship was traveling through a whole other quadrant where the crew might come across things never seen before, but the writers decided it would be more fun to hang out on the holodeck.

What got me was them trying to justify it by saying the holodeck's power wasn't compatible with the rest of the ship or some such bullshit. Like who the fuck thought that up? Just say that Janeway judged its use important to keep up the spirits of the crew, don't justify it with that idiocy.

He was on a roll when he mentioned how Garrett Wang was the most mainstream of the actors due to being voted one of the sexiest men in a magazine

Which, by the fucking way, is the only reason Harry Kim lived. They were going to kill him off, but that magazine saved him. Instead they killed Kes who was a far more interesting character.

Hey now, they didn't kill her. Unless you mean character assassination. In that case, yeah, they absolutely did.

Didn't help that they allowed that horrible rumor spread unchallenged that Kes's actress was fired due to drug abuse.

I was just thinking, we were talking about holodeck episodes earlier, and no one mentioned Bride of Chaotica! That episode is a treasure.

that's a funny way of spelling "Discovery"

Picard is worse because it shits all over TNG's characters with the worst writing they could have possibly done. Jesus. At least STD is using its own terrible characters and aren't ruining established ones.

Remember how they kept running into the Kazon for two seasons despite the fact that they were traveling back to the Alpha Quadrant at high warp the entire time?

Not just the Kazon, but the same Kazon every time

Seska was a pretty decent villain, but she always played second fiddle to the Kazon chump she was with, and that irritated me.

I liked Seska. I wish they had kept her as a prisoner or something instead of just killing her off to wrap up all the loose ends. But in my opinion the Kazon are one of the lamest major races in the franchise, and having them appear again and again did nothing to help that.

I find Voyager so interesting because it had the potential to be great, and it makes me a little bit sad that this potential was almost entirely wasted. Conversely, I have little to say about Enterprise, which had no real potential (weak cast, dull characters, and a boring story until the last couple seasons) and was lucky to have lasted four seasons.

It also works for Red Dwarf, somehow.
