On NG+ in DS Remastered right now, and I saw that it was on Steam sale. But I know these ports can be dicey, so is this a case where console is preferred?

Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition is the only PC port that's completely borked in this series. SotFS is fine on PC, go enjoy that smooth frame rate.

Not really. The biggest problem they had in DS2 was tying weapon durability to framerate, which they finally fixed when Scholar made it a problem on console.

You'll see this on the SotFS page of that site, but I suppose one word of caution is that the game doesn't have M&K key prompts so that could be a little confusing if you're not using a controller. That's always seemed like a really rough way to play these games to me but I know there are some people that do it!

I played original dark souls 2 on PS3, sotfs on PC and it was fine
