See below. Is this an overall good thing or bad thing?

Do Americans really sell liquor at gas stations?

How did that come about and is this a good thing? A bad thing? A neither thing?

Are things more expensive at convenience stores than grocery stores in America?

A ridiculous and outdated concept. No liquor stores, no booze at gas stations. Only restaurants or places like the VFW with liquor licenses can sell alcohol.

Not in my part of Texas. Alcohol used to only be sold outside city limits, but now it can be sold in dedicated liquor stores.

They do sell really cheap wine-based fake liquor though and I don't even want to know how that shit tastes

gas stations are ubiquitous, so having them double as convenience stores works very well. you can buy milk, toilet paper, and many other things at them also.
and that's a good thing.

Do they cost the same as a regular supermarket?

no. you usually pay more for the convenience, and the selection and sizes are much more limited than a supermarket. You would never do your regular shopping there, but they are great if you just need to pick up a few things quick, like a case of beer or a pack of cigarettes.

you've never truly lived until you've a 12 yo in the passanger seat going down the highway at 70+mph and having to hold the wheel as your dad roots through his cooler full of beer in the back seat...

oh and i wasn't kidding about the driving better while drunk thing. he was a sociopath who could fly into delightful fits of rage, which was much more common while sober. i can remember some truly terrifying road rage events. the alcohol generally prevented that.

It depends on the state. Alabama when I was there months ago had gas stations that had attached liquor stores, but it wasn't one entity if that makes sense. When I lived in PA, you could only buy beer at liquor stores or pizza places, that was 20 years ago though. Grocery stores in TN sell beer and wine, you couldn't get either in PA when I lived there. Apparently in Maine you can buy liquor at Walmart and they have like dump bins of Fireball.
