You weren't as free minded as you like to think you were. Children at that age are still highly impressionable. I never thought I'd unironically tell someone to check their privilege. Not everybody lived as sheltered a life or was surrounded by people that positively reinforced accepting behaviors or attitudes. Not saying Billie Eilish grew up in a impoverished or harsh environment that didn't nurture empathy, etc, but using your childhood and life experience as a reference point is pretty narrow minded tbh.
