I drink tea and when I saw premium Hawiian black I bought a small amount (not cheap). I finally brewed some. It tastes like tea and it feels like I am drinking tea but it is really different. Fortunately, it goes a long way so I am having a chance to get used to it I will probably decide I like it and find the price has jumped. After all land in Hawaii is limited.

Do any you tea drinkers enjoy exploring in your brewing? What have you tried lately?

@Giant_Aspirin Buy a tea pot you like and a tea thermometer. Much of the fun is deciding how much to put in, how hot the water should be and when to pour. You can really change the taste by doing this.

a "tea pot" and "tea thermometer"? i use an electric kettle to heat water to a set temperature and pour it over. im somewhat familiar with brewing concepts because i'm real into coffee.

I've been sticking with basic twinnings teabags lately.

The most memorable tea I ever tried was Russian caravan. It tastes like thick, nasty smoke. Like inhale wildfire smoke directly and its like that.

I could never get that hard-core. I got a couple nice tea pots but the temperature thing always seemed overkill to me. I also prefer my electric kettle.

I suppose I should get a kettle that lets you set any temperature. The one I have has 6 settings.

That's the exact tea that got me into the component that makes that smoky: it's lapsang souchong, a pine-smoked tea produced primarily in China's Fujian province. It's my favorite tea.
I used to get it from Choice, but they recently dramatically curtailed their selection(they've stopped selling both Russian Caravan and lapsang souchong), so now I get it from Harney&Sons. It kind of sucks: Choice sold it in 2 lb. bags, but Harney only does 1 lb. bags.

I'm personally a big fan of Chinese, Tibetan, and Nepalese black teas. They tend to not be as strong as teas from India or Africa, so they're more appealing to my palate.
