Rumor is the next Thanos level threat to the MCU will be a guy named Kang the Conqueror. I have never read any comics involving him but supposedly he's similar in power to Thanos. Supposedly he will be introduced soon in one of the upcoming movies and be involved for a long time like Thanos was

I see a lot of people say they're not excited for the MCU since the OG Avengers are mostly gone. But there's just soooo much to look forward to now that they're going more cosmic/multiversal

Not to mention the integration of the X-Men, Fantastic Four and FINALLY She-Hulk and Moon Knight

The MCU killed my 30+year love of reading the comics. Oversaturation combined with making the books match the movies instead of vice versa destroyed my passion.

Your passion is dead because the movies are introducing these characters to new people?

No, because people with no knowledge of the characters discuss them as if they do, Kang and Thanos dont have remotely similar power sets, motives, etc. I was a 30 book a month guy for decades, sorry that I dont like how my preferred medium was ripped apart to appease casuals, I dont care that the MCU exists, I care that it forever ruined the source material.

The source material is there and is completely unchanged do you have a melty every time a new comic reboot comes out and doesnt tell the exact same stories over and over? This is no different.

Movies being made for bigger audiences while sticking mostly to the source material is still pretty fucking good
Like Avengers = great
Wolverine 1 = terrible
Wolverine 2 = okay the terrible
Wolverine 3 = pretty fucking great
Especially what they did with Laura being Laura as opposed to a smirky one liner kid who needs help all the time

Right. There's been some synergy wit the MCU but it's less than 1% of the overall Marvel comics universe. The vast majority of comics are the same as always. Which makes me doubt this person has actually been a fan of them at all.

I was a Marvel fan long before I was an MCU fan and I'm not butthurt that the Marvel Universe is now appealing to casual audiences.

The gatekeeping is unnecessary.

Kang controls time and is a pretty huge threat.

But he doesn't have to be on "Thanos level" to be a legitimate threat. You don't have to go bigger to tell a good story.

Casuals don't buy the books because there's 80 something years of Marvel backstory they'd have to filter through and nobody has time for that shit.

They're doing minor tweaks so the characters in the books will be more familiar to someone with an interest in the characters. And honestly, many characters are better in the MCU than they ever were in the comics. And a lot of characters benefitted significantly from the popularity bump they got from the MCU, like the Guardians.

Tony Stark was a c-lister for 40 years, and wasnt known for wisecracks. The 616 version of him is now RDJ, its NOT the same character. I dont know why this is so hard to understand, the movies are loosely based on the Ultimate versions of the characters, which is fine, there is no reason to make those characters the new canon for 616.

The MCU has turned characters into wisecracking, cookie cutter versions of themselves, and without their various power sets, many of them could essentially be the same character.

Tony and Nick Fury, Jr are the only real examples of movie synergy in the comics. Meanwhile, Steve, Thor, T'Challa, Shuri, Gamora, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Spidey, etc are all the same characters in comics that they've always been. So you're being hyperbolic and overreacting.

You also have to keep in mind Iron-Man came out in the fucking 60s and maybe certain aspects of his character don't translate well to modern stories in the first place.

Im not confusing it at all. The Ultimate Universe came on the heels of superhero movies starting to get popular 20 years ago, and it used already established properties with new backstories for newer readers. But Im not going to sit here and debate with one of the all time worst trolls on this board.
