nuclear war is one of those things that can be avoided when rational people/people who care about their own self-interest are involved.

but stuff like global climate change is something you need leaders of different countries, corporations, etc. on board with to try to hopefully make meaningful changes, otherwise we're all screwed.

Money is such a weird thing. Once you have a lot, why do you need to keep building up on it? What is it doing for you? You don't need any more of it, do you? I mean there should be a constant flow but people want to get more of that flow and its so strange...how many can't be just content with their lot.

Ambition is such a poison...and yet our saving grace. So CEOs will focus on their funds because they won't be here when it all goes belly up...

It's the old "frog in a saucepan of water brought gradually to the boil" thing. Because climate change is a gradual process, and doing something meaningful about it means accepting the need to make changes to our lifestyle that we don't really want to make, there's a strong temptation to trivialize it, deny it, or believe it'll somehow magically stop if we just keep our nerve and do nothing about it. That's why it's more dangerous: it's easier to sleep through a slow journey toward the point of no return.
