another quick day! I'll remark on a couple of tracks:
-I like things that feel like 'thinking music'. Working is a pretty solid entry in that category! Brooding strings and electronic percussion, a smattering of piano to make the track sparkle a bit. There are moments where it kinda feels like chill Zero Escape puzzle music, typically when the strings and piano aren't there. There are crescendos into more dramatic sections, but they're not unwelcome; I like the jolt of emotion they add. A grower.
-the intro to You're Not Here has that Yamaoka detuned guitar, always a highlight. It goes for this alt-rock feel that occasionally reminds me of Boa (the British group, not the kpop artist). it's moody and pretty enjoyable, though I wish it explored its space a bit more.

MATCH 1

Paradise sounds pretty nice! The chorus is my favorite part, so I'm happy that it plays a lot in this song. The saxophone part is the only meh part of the song, but the rest of it is good.

I like Working during some parts and not really during others. 1:23-1:50's my favorite part of the song. The strings add a really nice touch to the song's mood. But I don't really care for the part right after.

MATCH 2

Another Celtic sounding song that appeals a lot to me! I also get Cladun vibes from this song and it's definitely most reminiscent of some of the songs I like the most from the game like Battlefield and Knight of a Foreign Country. The buildup at 0:44 is the weakest part of the song in my opinion, but everything else is really cool! This song appeals a lot to my love for folk metal as a music genre.

Overcome the Rocky Path was a really great discovery this year! Aside from Image -Material-, this was probably one of my favorite discoveries going through nominations. Shows me that I should listen through more of Ys soundtracks haha. That rock organ's such a great hook to the song. The rest of the song keeps that same energy on top of that.

Really unfortunate matchup because these are easily my top 2 songs today, but I have a fairly clear preference for Overcome the Rocky Path. Still a bit close though despite that.

MATCH 3

Gallant Gunshot's nice to see back in the contest this year. I think at this point in time, I might like this song more than Zenith. I like hearing these strong melodies from Yasui songs.

Just like with Love Psalm, You're Not Here gets an unfortunate round 1 matchup. As I said during Love Psalm's writeup, I like these melancholic alt-rock songs a lot. They're just really nice listens. Another close matchup, but I sadly have to give it to Gallant Gunshot here.
