I mean, the primary issue with the STEM category is that it's completely arbitrary. Math is very different from science and science is very different from engineering. Like, there's nothing that actually connects them together.

Every major is the science of something, so all majors are STEM using that logic lol, that doesn't make any sense. I don't think even the biggest history buffs would consider it STEM.
On the other hand, something like linguistics should probably be considered STEM. My buddy who studied that did 3 times as much programming as I did in my Math major. It's very, very arbitrary. --- Dedicated to D - 4/15/05 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Math is very different from science and science is very different from engineering. Like, there's nothing that actually connects them together. Strongly disagree. All of them are based on using logical principles to attempt to explain stuff. Plus, in my experience, the lines between maths and science, and science and engineering, can get really blurry sometimes Like, there's no other reason why a discipline like elasticity theory is considered part of mechanical engineering, whereas something like gas theory is considered science (physics/chemistry). They both attempt to explain matter, just different states of it --- currently watching: 86 EIGHTY-SIX (Sub) ~ Kaguya-sama: Love is War (Dub) ... Copied to Clipboard!
