I never just get a warning..
i got one once because it was a windy day and my license and papers got blown around the cop car and he had to dig around for them and took like 10 minutes....so since i had to wait extra he let me go.

You should have informed him that the speed limit limits how fast one may drive and that you were not driving but in fact traveling. And then start screaming that you have rights to any further questions.

I've never been let off with a warning for speeding, tho I have for driving without up-to-date "rego" (I think this is an NZ thing; basically a vehicle registration fee you have to pay periodically in order for a vehicle to legally be driven on the road) and/or safety inspection. Also once for driving when I didn't have the required licence - again the specifics hinge on details particular to NZ, before you get your "full" licence you have a "restricted" one for a while that only lets you drive during certain times of the day, and I was driving outside those and got caught.
