BMW definitely used to look way better. I suppose they're neck and neck now. All cars are relatively sleek and similar looking currently.

Mercedes make more interesting enthusiast cars. I hate the direction BMW has been taking the past few years, and the fleetwide facelist if abysmal. They ruined it to appeal to the chinese market.

My main problem with Audi is how they set up each car. They specifically place the engine directly above and forward the front axle fleetwide (R8 not included), so they have a particular understeery, heavy feel.

They're great daily drivers, but as far as enthusiast cars go, they're just horribly bland and boring. Even the R8 just comes across as a bit soulless and room temp water vs other cars in it's segment/pricepoint.

My main problem with Audi is how they set up each car. They specifically place the engine directly above and forward the front axle fleetwide (R8 not included), so they have a particular understeery, heavy feel.

Yeah, that's because BMW and Mercedes generally build their cars with a proper RWD architecture whereas Audi is predominantly FWD with the engine placed longitudinally (so even though its chassis is FWD based, it'll have RWD-like proportions). Audi (like Acura) tries to offset the inherent tendency to understeer with torque vectoring via quattro (and SH-AWD for Acura). It's kind of a unique way to drive in that when you reach the apex in the turn, you give the car gas and the car will apportion most of the power to the outside rear wheel and pull you through the turn.

The caveat with quattro is that you have to get it with the sport differential to enable torque vectoring.

Oh I don't touch that German stuff, but SH-AWD on my TL has been magic. Accelerating hard into and out of a turn apportions 70% of its available power to rear wheels.

Every so often I just have to change out the differential fluid with my regular servicing.

It's just...idk, I don't like the feel of awd cars, I just like the RWD with a limited slip feel more than anything else. If you ask me, something like a Miata, RX7, or Z4 is the ideal driving experience.

Any worries about heavy steering dont apply to the TT IMO. When youre passing wannabes in ricers and low end BMWs without flinching, everything else takes a backseat. Hell I could smoke an older Gallardo if one pulled alongside me at a light. Its a never ending hoot, I just wish the seats were a bit plusher.

You're talking about a completely different thing then. If all you care about is red light launches/street pulls, Audi TT money will buy you a hell of a lot of Mustang or used Corvette.

I actually test drove a Corvette Stingray when I was looking at my TT. It looked cool and attracted a lot of attention, but I didnt care for how the throttle response felt. TT is also more practical but thats not really what were talking about either.

Dont really care for Mustangs, the one I had in HS was a disaster.

Also worth noting that Im in Canada so a TT would be significantly cheaper then a Vette by about 10-15 grand.
