Whenever I go to Winco, I hate it. The interior has no light and looks like it hasnt been renovated in about 30 years. The situation is the same for my local Safeway also but at least they keep the interior updated and it is a bit higher end

I think it depends on location, but yeah, not a fun store to go to usually

One time I went to my local Krogers and some reason they had to save power, so only like a 3rd of the lights were on. And the funniest part was that I noticed like 3 goth couples that night. I don't know if that waa coincidence or it just got around how dark it was. Even I thought it was kind of a cool change. Can't say I ever shopped in a big poorly lit grocery store before that.

Walmart feels like a prison. I get depressed being in there. K-Mart also had that same vibe. Being in a Lowe's or Home Depot feels like going slowly insane.

Theres two super high end local grocery stores where I live. The interior on both looks like a warehouse. So not only is everything extremely expensive, but its not pleasant to look at either.

Kmart.

My grandparents lived less than a mile from the very first Kmart and the place was like going back in time.

Faux wood paneling everywhere. Those super loud and dim yellow fluorescent lights, that nasty brown carpet in some areas and a smell that was musty and dank.

In its last years it was one of the most depressing places to shop. There was low stock. Almost no employees. An abandoned "food court" area with signage from the 90s. The sounds of a blown out speaker playing soft rock echoing through the building at a low volume. Everyone who worked there looked like they were ghosts doomed to haunt the place with a constant look of sorrow on their face.

I had so many good memories of the place and i am beyond sad that it died with such a wimper and is now totally gone. One thing i did get to do was grab a piece of the fake wood paneling from the 60s that covered part of the back rooms. I put it up at my grandmas place down the street so i would always have a piece of what was once an empire.
