Advertisement to a viewer base that wont convert to sales. Thats why most companies dont hand out free things just because someone has a Twitter account

I'm not defending the owner, and I think he's a total goof. But if you make money off doing eating challenges that's a thing you should clear in advance imo. I occasionally watch a few of those channels so incidentally I can say at least a few always make sure to clear that in advance (Katina eats kilos always talks about that).

Which is why they should have a sign if they object to it. Public places by default allow the recording of yourself regardless if they make money or not.

Giving a tech YouTuber like Linus some new gadget or a video game YouTuber a new video game is completely different from giving free things to some random person who walked in off the street asking for free things. It doesnt matter if they have 10000 reddit likes

It's not unreasonable to expect five or so of her followers to eat there, especially if they live in town. Advertise a bit and maybe you can get increased business the day she's there from her fans.

It absolutely is. How many of those followers are in the area? What percentage of people in the area even eat at the restaurant? As I said, converting exposure to sales (in the context of random ass influencers) is nearly impossible. And like I said before, they turn down a more fair deal (free meal if your followers use this coupon code X times) because the influencer knows its bullshit.

Even if someone only has like 50k subs there's a decent chance some of those are local. If it gets you no business you aren't really out anything... but the odds are it gets ya at least a few people coming in to try that challenge.

He literally doesnt even need her followers to come, he can use her content to advertise to his own local customers. Theres a reason restaurants that have these sorts of challenges usually have, like, a wall dedicated to people who beat the challenge. Getting your restaurant featured in a semi-famous Youtobers channel? He could have made the local news just for that. So much free publicity could have been had.

I worked in small city radio ten years. He coulda had free radio adds and an interview from his restaurant that would be worth ten times the price of the meal at the absolute least.

I did a community cruiser segment that was 90% stuff along those lines.
