lol all my friends with kids be like "When are you going to have kids" what i want to say is "When you start looking happy" because they dont look happy. you cant tell me its fun to watch Sesame Street 100 times in a fucking row everyday. Or having baby conversations. I can totally dig adopting a 5yr old or something like that like skipping straight to the functional stages but the whole baby portion atleast seems so annoying.

I just dont get it. I feel like people have kids because "They are supposed to" more than "It just makes sense"

Maybe not a point but i feel like the cons outweight the pros. Most women will have kids just because they had raw sex. Like every woman doesnt HAVE to be a mother. The amount of money saved by not having kids is exponential its basically a societal pressure to have kids because it forces you to contribute to society and essentially spend money into businesses that have thrived off of kids.

Im being pressured to have children because my marriage is too happy. Happiness is basically considered immature that is what iam learning in my 30's. MY partner is being pressured to have children for "The Experience" but have you seen the world we live in tho? This is such a shitty world to bring a kid into. The thought of buying my kid an ipad and phone OR consequently the thought of refusing to buy them those things is crazy. I feel like quality of human beings in America atleast has dropped significantly.

If you don't want kids or if you think it's dumb to have kids or whatever reason, then there's something wrong with you, mentally and biologically. If the entire human race didn't want kids, we'd go extinct.

So the answer to TC's question is: survival of the human race.

Sure, it's okay to not have kids, especially if your country is overpopulated, but for the most part, it is human imperative to have kids.

I mean they will be a screaming little shit for atleast 3yrs thats guaranteed. Also the expenses. Then they have to have a certain quality of life. You cant just feedem McDonald's. Basically cancels any and all fun plans. Want to go out to dinner welp gotta pay for a babysitter. No more movie theaters unless its an appropriate movie. Wanna go straight home from work and go to bed lol hell no. Just seems inconvient as fuck. Basically its a dedication. We just live our lives for 3 decades and then dedicate the next 3 decades to making sure they have a good life? Ehh sounds so sucky.

For most part, I disagree. There's a lot of good in this world. I'd say the majority of people just want to live happy and good lives. Having kids is part of that.

To answer the question though -

I decided to have a kid because i found that as i got older, i found nurturing/paternal activities more and more rewarding. Coaching new employees, doting on my cats, etc. So i decided to lean in to the biological imperative of procreating

Im also married, financially secure, and healthy, so it was practical.

If you can only look at it as a cost/benefit decision then yea dont fucking have any kids please

Im glad TC doesnt want to have kids with the way he talks about them.

Personally its been the most rewarding thing in my life. Im 36 years old and Ive lived a great life, Im fine with less free time for myself. Life doesnt end after kids either. Like some of you act like you have to give up everything. We still go to dinner and are going to Hawaii in September with our baby. And even then, imagine wanting to waste life doing nothing but watch movies and play games.

I dont judge people for not wanting children, its not for everyone. But people who have this disdain/hatred for children really come across as sociopaths or at least psychologically damaged.

With the way some are so worried about having a little less time for TV and video games, I question if they go outside at all to see or interact with any children. Seems to be some made up idea in their head. Most couples I know with children are doing great, are quite happy and have very well behaved kids.
