Anyone remember that Mighty Ducks cartoon?
To be fair, the concept isn't even that different from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Beast Wars, but I think the existence of the live action Mighty Ducks franchise (which has absolutely nothing to do with alien ducks fighting a dragon man) makes the cartoon feel so strange in comparison. I watched a couple episodes when it first came on TV and couldn't get into it.

I got really into it, don't know how or why. Like, for how arbitrary the premise, they were very consistent about these alternate dimension, spacefaring, hockey-obsessed anthromallards. The characters had personalities, flaws, motivations, the reasons people did things made sense given the circumstances... For some reason, the writers really fucking cared!
