I think if it had an extra ~2 hours to build on the world, it would go down as the best Resident Evil in my opinion. I have it solidly number 2 behind RE4 right now. A few things I would've changed are:
  • The Moreau area could've been expanded upon and I think that was a missed opportunity.
  • I also think that on New Game+ runs that the Beneviento House should've done something different. The first time you go through it, it's pretty spooky but after you know what to do, it kinda just feels like a drag.
  • The ending seems really rushed. You defeat Heisenberg, Ethan dies, play as Chris, final boss as Ethan.

It is a really fun game though and I'm hoping that they do end up deciding to do some DLC on it.

Imo the only thing that feels too short is the Moreau area

That was probably my favorite area in the game too. I couldn't believe how quick you get to the boss fight there. A lot of just running away and dodging at that part too, not a ton of action.

I take your point about the Beneviento House, but that first time through is so well done that I don't know what they could have changed.

Moreau definitely should have been a little longer. At the very least, there should have been a segment where he's actually chasing you in the boat. There's virtually no tension in the bit he is chasing you because it quickly becomes apparent that he can't get to you on most of the platforms.

I think a small Miranda area would have been nice, but it probably would have ruined the pacing of the ending.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure what they could've done with the house to make it different. Maybe move objects around if it knows you're in New Game+ or something like that.

The boat chase idea sounds pretty solid. Have Moreau chase you and then also you have to deal with some other water type creatures trying to climb into the boat would've added some tension.

The more I think about the ending now, the more I think you're right about how it would've ruined the pacing. At that point in the story, Ethan realizes he's dead and he doesn't have that much time left so including another area would've been a little out of place. Maybe the Chris part could've been expanded upon a little.
