Suffering isn't just physical. I suffer every single day I have to get up and go to work. Plus this scenario doesn't say you'll naturally have bad health if you get paid.

Money now.

The money of course. Why would I want to live to be over 100? All your family and friends would die before you and with globs o warming going on and the economic gap between the rich and the poor growing at an exponential rate, it would suck to live for a really long time and see things continue to get worse

i have severe scoliosis and daily chronic lower back pain, so i would definitely take the perfect health no matter how much money the other option is,

This guy gets it. You use pain meds or you taking it head on? I went the pussy route and never looked back >_>. It's crazy when you gotta choose between an addiction and habitual extreme discomfort. Like, I just wanna play with my nieces and feel no pain yo, fuck money. I can't even imagine how much more it would effect me mentally if I was a more ambitious person. Being a minimalist might be due to my health problems for all I know. Like just an acceptance of my reach type shit. I'm not gonna be sad about it tho, cause that's just stackong problems and if I can avoid it, Im going to.

i am really wary of taking opioids. i have been prescribed Tramadol and Norco, but i only took them sparingly and when i absolutely felt i must. and i haven't taken any at all recently. i am also prescribed Meloxicam and Cyclobenzaprine, and i was taking those daily for awhile there, usually only at night but sometimes during the day too, because my pain is at its worst when i am laying down and when i first get up in the morning, but i was finally able to afford a better mattress with this last stimulus check, and i haven't been needing to take those as much lately, so that's good. my old mattress was really cheap and terrible, sunk in in the middle, and doing nothing but aggravating my condition every night i slept on it, and my new one, the Nectar Lush, was rated by sleepfoundation.org as the Best Overall mattress for people with scoliosis and chronic lower back pain. so that definitely has been helping.

other than that, i am doing physical therapy, daily cardio, and light weight training in order to strengthen my muscles and slim down as much as i can, so as to be able to better manage my pain levels. someday soon i hope that all that will get me to a level where i can do the things i want to do without having to worry about pain flare-ups or potentially aggravating my condition. but for now i basically have no social life or career prospects to speak of. i look back on the work i used to do at Walmart and being on my feet all day and i know for sure i could never have a job again where i was expected to do all that, and the shitty desk job i left Walmart for when my back pain was really starting to get bad was not much better either, sitting in an uncomfortable office chair all day doing repetitive tasks.

@DuranOfForcena . Wasn't ignoring this. Got a surprise visitor. I feel bad when I start deeper convos and then disappear when the person responds lol.

But yeah man, I know the feeling of not being able to perform jobs. If I had any type of job like that, Id end up leaning on pain meds so much to not be miserable that Id probably end up in a much more dangerous place. Shit controls every aspect of your life and you really gotta reevaluate your expectations to be ok with it. Can't compare yourself/life to completely abled body people or you'll just make yourself miserable. Just gotta accept it and realign the importance of the things in your life. But also, keep doing the things you're doing to help. I'm kind of lazy, so I respect you taking the route you're taking. On a deeper level, since I can sympathize with what everything you're dealing with. Do you have any stomach issues? They've theorized that my scoliosis could be responsible for mine.

it's cool, i know we're not all glued to our keyboards and phones all the time. i just got back from my weekly physical therapy appointment and saw the mention.

i really do get into the bad mindset of comparing myself to fully able-bodied people probably way too much, and i know i shouldn't. especially with things like still living with my parents at my age and not having a job, and having to rely on my mom to drive me places. i wish i had money to get my car fixed. i don't even wish i had money to live on my own, because i know that that's so far off that it's not even worth thinking about. but things in that regard might be changing soon, if i put my nose to the grindstone and work on getting this food blog started like i've been wanting to do. i know i can write pretty well and cook pretty well, i've been practicing at both basically my whole life, and so i know if i combine those strengths and really put in the effort i can be at least moderately successful at it, and it won't be something i'd have to murder my back or get addicted to opioids in order to do. so at least there is that.

and thank you, i know the effort i've been putting into getting shape and building strength lately has taken a lot of willpower and persistence, and honestly it's an amount of those that i never really realized i had before. it's made me completely rethink what could be possible. before i started going to physical therapy, i was convinced that i would never ever be able to work out or lift weights or anything, because i didn't know of anything like that that i could do without risking a flare up of pain, or worse, potentially making my condition worse. but the physical therapy place i've been going to has been really great. they've shown me and taught me things and ways of doing things that i never knew were possible, and i've been able to get really good workouts lately with the knowledge and tools they have provided me with. so it's definitely a lot of effort on my part, but also some really great people giving me really great knowledge of how to do things safely, that i never would have figured out on my own.

as for stomach issues, i don't really have any. i kind of have a stomach of steel actually, lol. but there are so many potential complications that can arise from scoliosis though, so in some people, i wouldn't be surprised if stomach issues could be a concern. it changes your whole musculoskeletal system. my ribcage is partially rotated horizontally, one of my lungs is smaller than the other, my pelvis is tilted upward on one side, making the leg on that side look shorter than the other when they are actually the same length, all the muscles on the concave sides of my curves are stretched and overextended, and on the convex sides are compressed and underworked. so yeah, it really can affect your whole body in so many ways.

Yours sounds in a lil worse state than mine. But it could also be partly cause the weight thing you mentioned that you're dealing with. I also have another condition that makes ot hard to gain weight, with the stomach problems as well. So my weight problem is in the opposite direction, which might be a lil easier on my back. Either way man, Im glad you found some momentum. Definitely try to keep that going and not let yourself take breaks for too long. Cause that's where I fuck up. But I'm sure you're aware if you made it this far.
